Constituents of Mediterranean Spices Counteracting Vascular Smooth Muscle Cell Proliferation: Identification and Characterization of Rosmarinic Acid Methyl Ester as a Novel Inhibitor
Conclusion: RAME represses PDGF‐induced VSMC proliferation in vitro and reduces neointima formation in vivo. These results recommend RAME as an interesting compound with VSMC‐inhibiting potential. Future metabolism and pharmacokinetics studies might help to further evaluate the potential relevance of RAME and other spice‐derived polyphenolics for vasoprotection. This article is protected by copyright. Adiposity Associated Plasma Linoleic Acid is Related to Demographic, Metabolic Health and Haplotypes of FADS1/2 Genes in Irish Adults
Conclusion: Plasma LA was inversely associated with adiposity, followed by haplotypes of FADS1/2 genes, carbohydrate intakes and dietary PUFA intakes. The association observed between plasma LA and adiposity may be linked to decreased de novo lipogenesis, insulin resistance and inflammation. This article is protected by copyright. Histone Methyltransferase Setd7 Regulates Nrf2 Signaling Pathway by Phenethyl Isothiocyanate and Ursolic Acid in Human Prostate Cancer Cells
Conclusion: Taken together, these results indicate that Setd7 knockdown decreases Nrf2 and Nrf2‐target genes expression and that PEITC and UA induce Setd7 expression, which activates the Nrf2/antioxidant response element (ARE) signaling pathway and protects DNA from oxidative damage. This article is protected by copyright. A Phytol ‐Enriched Diet Activates PPARα in the Liver and Brown Adipose Tissue to Ameliorate Obesity‐Induced Metabolic Abnormalities
Conclusion: A phytol‐enriched diet may increase phytanic acid levels in the liver and brown adipocytes, thereby activating PPARα in these organs and ameliorating obesity‐induced metabolic diseases. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved (Source: Nahrung / Food)

Raspberry Supplementation Improves Insulin Signaling and Promotes Brown ‐Like Adipocyte Development in White Adipose Tissue of Obese Mice
Conclusion: Dietary RB attenuated adipocyte hypertrophy and inflammation of WAT in HFD‐mice and improved insulin sensitivity and beige adipogenesis, which is associated with increased FNDC5/irisin content and activation of AMPK/Sirt1 pathway. RB supplementation provides a promising strategy to prevent diet‐induced obesity. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved (Source: Nahrung / Food)

Thymoquinone Can Improve Neuronal Survival and Promote Neurogenesis in Rat Hippocampal Neurons
ConclusionThese findings suggest that TQ has an enhancing effect on cell survival and neurogenesis in healthy hippocampus rather inducing apoptosis in damaged neurons. This may proceed via ERK/JNK and CREB signaling pathways as a candidate acting mechanism for TQ.This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved (Source: Nahrung / Food)

Vitamin A Deficiency Induces Autistic ‐Like Behaviors in Rats by Regulating the RARβ‐CD38‐Oxytocin Axis in the Hypothalamus
Conclusions: Gestational VAD might be a risk factor for autistic‐like behaviors due to the RARβ signal suppression of CD38 expression in the hypothalamus of the offspring, which improved with VAS during the early‐life period. The nutritional status during pregnancy and the early‐life period is important in rats. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved (Source: Nahrung / Food)

Mediterranean Tomato ‐Based Sofrito Sauce Improves Fibroblast Growth Factor 21 (FGF21) Signaling in White Adipose Tissue of Obese ZUCKER Rats
Conclusions: A sofrito‐supplemented diet improves insulin and FGF21 sensitivity in OZR, explaining part of sofrito’s healthy effects on glucose metabolism. In addition, induction of UCP1 and the unchanged body weight despite the hyperphagic behavior of the sofrito‐fed rats suggests that the increase in FGF21 signaling correlates with an increase in energy expenditure (EE). Further studies in humans may help to understand whether sofrito consumption increases the EE in obese individuals. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved (Source: Nahrung / Food)
