Jaboticaba berry peel intake prevents insulin ‐resistance‐induced tau phosphorylation in mice
In this study, we used a high‐fat diet to induce obesity and insulin resistance in adult Swiss mice and checked whether supplementation with Myrciaria jaboticaba berry peel for 10 weeks could improve insulin sensitivity, learning/memory performance, and prevent tau phosphorylation in the hippocampus. Furthermore, adipocytokines, inflammatory markers, and oxidative stress were assessed. Myrciaria jaboticaba peel has phenolic compounds (e.g., cyanidin, ellagic acid), dietary fiber and carotenoids, which contribute to great antioxidant capacity. Supplementation of the high‐fat diet with 4% M. jaboticaba peel prevented fat...

Effect of Dietary Components from Antarctic Krill on Atherosclerosis in apoE ‐Deficient Mice
Conclusion: Krill oil containing diets were able to reduce cholesterol levels, inhibit plaque development and prevent liver damage. Krill proteins also reduced atherosclerosis development through mechanisms not involving lipid metabolism. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved (Source: Nahrung / Food)

Relationship between vitamin D and gestational diabetes in overweight or obese pregnant women may be mediated by adiponectin
ConclusionOur findings suggest that lower maternal 25(OH)D concentrations in overweight/obese pregnant women at high‐risk of GDM are associated with increased cardiometabolic risks during pregnancy and adverse pregnancy outcomes, and that these associations may be mediated by HMW‐adiponectin. This article is protected by copyright. ( ‐)‐Epicatechin regulates blood lipids and attenuates hepatic steatosis in rats fed high‐fat diet†
ConclusionEC effectively improved blood lipid profile and protected liver from accumulating excessive fat in hyperlipidemic rats. The results shed a light on the potential role of EC as a promising natural product in preventing hyperlipidemia and non‐alcoholic fatty liver disease. This article is protected by copyright. Commercial strain ‐derived clinical Saccharomyces cerevisiae can evolve new phenotypes without higher pathogenicity
Conclusion: Isolates in this study offer an interesting insight into the potential microevolution of probiotic and food strains in human hosts. These commensal yeasts display various changes in their phenotypes, indicating that the colonization of the host does not necessarily impose a selective pressure towards higher virulence/pathogenicity.This article is protected by copyright. Plasma thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS) in young adults: obesity increases fasting levels only in men whereas glucose ingestion, and not protein or lipid intake, increases postprandial concentrations regardless of sex and obesity
Conclusion: Plasma TBARS concentrations are increased in the fasting state only in obese men in association with abdominal adiposity, and increases markedly after the ingestion of glucose, but not after oral intake of lipids and proteins, regardless of sex and obesity. This article is protected by copyright.
