The value of losartan suppression test in the confirmatory diagnosis of primary aldosteronism in patients over 50 years old
Conclusion: The losartan test showed comparable accuracy to confirm PA. Verification of this "elderly-friendly" confirmatory test will be the first step to prepare a specific diagnostic model of PA for the older-aged population. (Source: Journal of the Renin-Angiotensin-Aldosterone System : JRAAS)

The muscular expression of RAS in patients with achalasia
Conclusion: The results showed the existence of a local RAS in human oesophageal muscular layer. The enzymes responsible for AngII production are different and there has been a shift in receptor physiology from AT1R to MAS receptor in patients with achalasia. These changes in the RAS might play a significant role in the physiological motor control for patients with achalasia. (Source: Journal of the Renin-Angiotensin-Aldosterone System : JRAAS)

Angiotensin IV and the human esophageal mucosa: An exploratory study in healthy subjects and gastroesophageal reflux disease patients
Conclusion: The AT4R and formation enzymes of AngIII and AngIV are present in the human esophageal epithelium. Moreover, the present results suggest that AngIV exert regulatory impact on the epithelium and that RAS is involved in mucosal aberrations associated with GERD. Balance between angiotensin converting enzyme and angiotensin converting enzyme 2 in patients with chronic heart failure
Conclusions: ACE and ACE2 expression at the mRNA and protein levels are significantly increased in the myocardium of patients with heart failure. The compensatory mechanism of patients with mild heart may cause the decreased ACE/ACE2 ratio. However, increased ACE/ACE2 ratios may induce angiotensin II over-activation and accelerate cardiac remodeling in patients with moderate to severe heart failure. Effect of angiotensin II receptor blockers, candesartan, on osteoprotegerin level in hypertensive patients: Link between bone and RAAS
Conclusions: In the present study, treatment with the ARB candesartan had no significant effect on circulating OPG levels in hypertensive patients with multiple cardiovascular risk factors. To the best of our knowledge, the present study is the first to estimate an effect of candesartan on bone remodeling marker such as OPG. Renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system gender differences in an Afro-Caribbean population
Conclusions: A shift in the balance between Ang II and Ang-(1-7) and their respective pressor and depressor axes might be markers of the cardio-renal protective mechanisms that may be present in females of Afro-Caribbean descent. (Source: Journal of the Renin-Angiotensin-Aldosterone System : JRAAS)

The renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system in adolescent offspring born prematurely to mothers with preeclampsia
Conclusion: Among male preterm VLBW infants, maternal preeclampsia is associated with increased circulating aldosterone level in adolescence, which appears to be mediated in part by higher BMI. (Source: Journal of the Renin-Angiotensin-Aldosterone System : JRAAS)

IgA nephropathy with early kidney disease is associated with increased arterial stiffness and renin-angiotensin system activity
Conclusion: Even in the setting of early kidney disease, IgA nephropathy is associated with increased arterial stiffness and decreased angiotensin II responsiveness, a marker of increased RAS activity. (Source: Journal of the Renin-Angiotensin-Aldosterone System : JRAAS)

Association between urinary angiotensinogen, hypertension and proteinuria in pregnant women with preeclampsia
Conclusion: This study showed that elevated local RAS activity in kidney was correlated with high blood pressure and proteinuria in preeclampsia. Local RAS activation in the kidneys may be one of the contributing factors in the development of preeclampsia. (Source: Journal of the Renin-Angiotensin-Aldosterone System : JRAAS)

Aliskiren in early postnatal life prevents hypertension and reduces asymmetric dimethylarginine in offspring exposed to maternal caloric restriction

Inhibition of cellular transdifferentiation by losartan minimizes but does not reverse type 2 diabetes-induced renal fibrosis
Conclusions: Cellular transition may play a role in diabetes-inducing renal fibrogenesis in both AngII-TGF-β1 axis-dependent and independent manners. Losartan was efficient in preventing cells from undergoing further transdifferentiation, but this strategy was not sufficient to induce regression of the pre-existing tissue fibrosis.
