RETRACTED: Bosentan attenuates cardiac fibrosis in diabetic mice without affecting blood glucose
At the request of the authors, ‘Bosentan attenuates cardiac fibrosis in diabetic mice without affecting blood glucose’ Journal of Renin-Angiotensin-Aldosterone System, published ahead of print August 15, 2011 as doi: 10.1177/1470320311417274 has been retracted. This is due to mistakes in the published data at Figure 3. For clarification: this problem came to the attention of Bo Yang only after publication in the journal. Bo Yang immediately brought it to the attention of the Journal. (Source: Journal of the Renin-Angiotensin-Aldosterone System : JRAAS)

RETRACTED: Association of aldosterone synthase (CYP11B2) gene polymorphism with IgA nephropathy risk and progression of IgA nephropathy
The following articles have been retracted at the request of the Editors and the Publisher. After conducting a thorough investigation, SAGE found that the submitting authors of a number of papers published in the Journal of the Renin-Angiotensin Aldosterone System (JRAAS) (listed below) had supplied fabricated contact details for their nominated reviewers. The Editors accepted these papers based on the reports supplied by the individuals using these fake reviewer email accounts. After concluding that the peer review process was therefore seriously compromised, SAGE and the journal Editors have decided to retract all affect...

A meta-analysis of the association between angiotensin-converting enzyme insertion/ deletion gene polymorphism and the risk of overweight/obesity
Conclusions: DD genotype is a risk factor for the overweight/obesity susceptibility in overall populations, particularly in Africans. D allele is a risk factor for the overweight/obesity susceptibility in Africans. Further larger studies are needed to confirm our findings. Angiotensin converting enzyme insertion/deletion (I/D) (rs4646994) and Vegf polymorphism (+405G/C; rs2010963) in type II diabetic patients: Association with the risk of coronary artery disease
Conclusion: Our results indicated that ACE(rs4646994)-D allele alone and in the presence of VEGF(rs2010963)-G allele can be an important independent risk factor for susceptibility of CAD in T2DM patients even after correcting for conventional risk factors in a population of Iran. Angiotensin-converting enzyme insertion/deletion gene polymorphism is associated with dermatomyositis
Conclusions: Homozygous ACE D/D was associated significantly with the DM risk. Further investigations are required to clarify and to confirm the association of these genes with DM susceptibility. (Source: Journal of the Renin-Angiotensin-Aldosterone System : JRAAS)

Association of aldosterone synthase (CYP11B2) gene polymorphism with IgA nephropathy risk and progression of IgA nephropathy
Conclusion: CYP11B2-344C/T gene polymorphism is not associated with IgAN risk and IgAN progression in overall populations and in Asians, but CYP11B2 C allele and CC genotype were associated with the risk of IgAN in Caucasians. However, more studies should be performed in the future to confirm this association. (Source: Journal of the Renin-Angiotensin-Aldosterone System : JRAAS)

Polymorphisms within angiotensin II receptor type 1 gene associated with essential hypertension in Chinese Hani and Yi minorities
Conclusion: Our findings suggest that rs387967 is associated with the susceptibility to essential hypertension in a Yi population and the tendency was replicated in systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure detection. Meta-analysis revealed that C allele of rs2638360 could significantly increase the risk of essential hypertension. The two single nucleotide polymorphisms maybe play a role in the pathology of essential hypertension. (Source: Journal of the Renin-Angiotensin-Aldosterone System : JRAAS)

The M235T polymorphism in the angiotensinogen gene and atrial fibrillation: A meta-analysis
Conclusions: The current meta-analysis suggested that the M235T polymorphism in the angiotensinogen gene might be related to the increased risk of AF in Asians. Conclusive evidence on the effects of the variants in AF should be addressed in further studies. (Source: Journal of the Renin-Angiotensin-Aldosterone System : JRAAS)
