Lack of RAAS inhibition by high-salt intake is associated with arterial stiffness in hypertensive patients
Conclusions: We showed a) an inverse salt-RAAS relation, b) an association between HS plus high RAAS with increased PWV that could identify a higher-risk hypertensive condition. (Source: Journal of the Renin-Angiotensin-Aldosterone System : JRAAS)

Elevated circulating alpha-klotho by angiotensin II receptor blocker losartan is associated with reduction of albuminuria in type 2 diabetic patients
Conclusions: The angiotensin receptor blocker losartan increases circulating α-klotho in T2DM with albuminuria. The clinical significance of this rise in α-klotho associated with losartan intervention deserves further investigation. (Source: Journal of the Renin-Angiotensin-Aldosterone System : JRAAS)

Cardiovascular effects of angiotensin A: A novel peptide of the renin-angiotensin system
Conclusions: These data suggest that the existence of alternative peptides of the renin–angiotensin system (RAS) might contribute to the limited effects of angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs) in certain pathophysiological circumstances. Presence and regulation of insulin-regulated aminopeptidase in mouse macrophages
Conclusion: IRAP is more highly expressed in pro-inflammatory M1-activated macrophages and its presence at the cell surface is modulated upon exposure to IFN-, LPS or exogenous particles. (Source: Journal of the Renin-Angiotensin-Aldosterone System : JRAAS)

Paradoxical expressions of natriuretic peptide receptor-C and neutral endopeptidase account for C-type natriuretic peptide decline during the progression of experimental obstructive nephropathy
Conclusions: A high level of CNP may contribute to the elevated expression of NPR-B in the early phase of UUO. More interestingly, paradoxical expressions of NPR-C and NEP may account for the decline of CNP in the obstructed kidneys. (Source: Journal of the Renin-Angiotensin-Aldosterone System : JRAAS)

Do Angiotensin Type 2 Receptors Modulate Haemodynamic Effects of Type 1 Receptors in Conscious Newborn Lambs?
Conclusions: AT2Rs do not counterbalance the pressor and renal vasoconstrictor effects elicited by activation of AT1Rs in the immediate newborn period. During this time, AT1Rs appear to predominate in eliciting the haemodynamic effects of angiotensin II (ANG II), whereas the role of the upregulated AT2Rs remains elusive. Proliferative changes of renal arteriolar walls induced by administration of angiotensin II receptor blocker are frequent in juvenile rats
Conclusion: This study indicates that ARB administration induces unusual proliferative changes and a marked renin-producing cell increase in afferent arterioles more frequently in juveniles than adult rats. It is suggested that the treatment of ARB in juveniles might have a higher risk of changes in renal afferent arterioles. (Source: Journal of the Renin-Angiotensin-Aldosterone System : JRAAS)

Brazilian embauba (Cecropia pachystachya) extract reduces renal lesions in 5/6 nephrectomized rats
Conclusions: The treatment with CP extract reduced the SBP and functional and structural renal changes in 5/6 NE rats. These effects were associated with decreased AII expression, ACE activity and inflammation in the renal cortex. (Source: Journal of the Renin-Angiotensin-Aldosterone System : JRAAS)

Dual therapy of vildagliptin and telmisartan on diabetic nephropathy in experimentally induced type 2 diabetes mellitus rats
Conclusions: The addition of telmisartan to vildagliptin demonstrated the best control over blood pressure, glycemia and diabetic nephropathy markers, renal structural changes and improvement of renal function as opposed to monotherapy with either drug, possibly because of the dual inhibitory effect on the renin–angiotensin system.
