Area epidemiological research on hypertension risk factors of Keriyans in the Taklimakan Desert
Conclusions: Age, hyperglycemia and salt consumption as well as sodium intake in diet were correlated with hypertension risk factors, which leads to the speculation that the water of the desert draught area which is characterized by low calcium and high magnesium levels might account for the low incidence of hypertension in Keriyans. Influence of ABO genotype and phenotype on angiotensin-converting enzyme plasma activity
Conclusion: These results provide new evidence for the ABO-ACE relationship. Although the genetic marker studied here may be involved somehow, ABO phenotype is shown to be a better predictor of ACE plasma activity. (Source: Journal of the Renin-Angiotensin-Aldosterone System : JRAAS)

Renin-angiotensin system genetic polymorphisms: Lack of association with CRP levels in patients with coronary artery disease
In conclusion, genetic polymorphisms of RAS are not associated with increased serum CRP in CAD. Compensation of an increased activity of ACE through counter-regulation and the secretion of CRP under the influence of Ang II in the vessel being local could explain the lack of association between the studied polymorphisms and CRP levels in CAD patients. Association of aldosterone synthase (CYP11B2) gene -344T/C polymorphism with the risk of primary chronic glomerulonephritis in the Polish population
Conclusion: Our results suggest that the CYP11B2 –344C/T polymorphism might be an independent risk factor of IgAN, FSGS and all proliferative chronic GNs. (Source: Journal of the Renin-Angiotensin-Aldosterone System : JRAAS)

Gender difference of serum angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) activity in DD genotype of ACE insertion/deletion polymorphism in elderly Chinese
Conclusions: No significant gender difference of genotype distribution was found in elderly Chinese. Serum ACE activity was significantly correlated with ACE I/D polymorphism in elderly Chinese. Male subjects with DD genotype had higher serum ACE activity than female subjects with DD genotype. (Source: Journal of the Renin-Angiotensin-Aldosterone System : JRAAS)

Effects of renal sympathetic denervation using saline-irrigated radiofrequency ablation catheter on the activity of the renin-angiotensin system and endothelin-1

The balance between human maternal plasma angiotensin II and angiotensin 1-7 levels in early gestation pregnancy is influenced by fetal sex
Conclusions: In early human pregnancy, the maternal RAS is influenced by fetal sex. The lower Ang 1-7 to Ang II ratios in women with female fetuses may contribute to the lower maternal peripheral microvascular flow as described previously and the lack of any positive effect of Ang II on fetal growth, as seen in women with male fetuses. Aliskiren and losartan trial in non-diabetic chronic kidney disease
Conclusion: This study in non-diabetic CKD patients showed that combination therapy with aliskiren and ARB was as efficacious as aliskiren alone and ARB alone. There was one patient who developed a non-fatal stroke in the combined aliskiren and ARB group while the other two groups had none. Circadian rhythm of plasma and urinary angiotensinogen in healthy volunteers and in patients with chronic kidney disease
The urinary angiotensinogen (AGT) excretion rate could be a novel biomarker for the intrarenal activity of the renin-angiotensin system. Little is known about the circadian rhythm of AGT levels in plasma or urine. In this short article, making use of data in plasma and urine of healthy volunteers and patients with chronic kidney diseases, we first report that we were unable to find evidence for a circadian rhythm of AGT under any condition. Next we critically discuss to what degree elevated urinary AGT levels might be considered an independent biomarker that is not simply the non-specific consequence of proteinuria. (Sourc...
