Opposite Prognostic Impact of Single PTEN-loss and PIK3CA Mutations in Early High-risk Breast Cancer
Conclusion: In EBC, PTEN-loss is an independent predictor of poor outcome. When occurring singly, PTEN-loss and PIK3CA mutations have opposite prognostic impact. In HER2-positive disease, assessment of PTEN-loss by IHC appears unreliable and the marker is without clear prognostic significance. (Source: Cancer Genomics and Proteomics)

Gene Expression Comparison Between the Primary Tumor and its Lymph Node Metastasis in Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma: A Pilot Study
Conclusion: Differential gene expression levels in node metastases compared to the primary tumor is linked to the prognosis of HNSCC patients. The histological/immunohisto-chemical characteristics of the tumor are associated with these genes expression changes. (Source: Cancer Genomics and Proteomics)

Increased RNA Expression of von Willebrand Factor Gene Is Associated With Infiltrating Lobular Breast Cancer and Normal PAM50 Subtype
Conclusion: Our finding of significantly higher VWF RNA expression in the PAM50 normal (non-basal-like) breast cancer subtype suggests that VWF protein measurement might complement or corroborate PAM50 results. VWF and PAM50 results both suggesting a low risk of recurrence might make the decision whether to give chemotherapy easier, especially if VWF protein were an independent predictor. MicroRNAs as Potential Targets for Therapeutic Intervention With Metastasis of Non-small Cell Lung Cancer
The death toll of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients is primarily due to metastases, which are poorly amenable to therapeutic intervention. In this review we focus on miRs associated with metastasis of NSCLC as potential new targets for anti-metastatic therapy. We discuss miRs validated as therapeutic targets by in vitro data, identification of target(s) and pathway(s) and in vivo efficacy data in at least one clinically-relevant metastasis-related model. A few of the discussed miRs correlate with the clinical status of NSCLC patients. Using miRs as therapeutic agents has the advantage that targeting a single miR ...

MiR-1 Suppresses Proliferation of Osteosarcoma Cells by Up-regulating p21 via PAX3
Conclusion: Overexpression of miR-1 suppressed cell proliferation and induced arrest in the G0/G1 phase by increasing p21 levels via a p53-independent pathway through PAX3 suppression. These results indicate that miR-1 could be a therapeutic target for osteosarcoma. (Source: Cancer Genomics and Proteomics)
