Promoter Optimisation of Lentiviral Vectors for Efficient Insulin Gene Expression in Canine Mesenchymal Stromal Cells: Potential Surrogate Beta Cells
ConclusionOur results suggest that optimised lentiviral transduction of the insulin gene into primary canine MSCs renders these cells capable of secreting insulin both short‐ and long‐term, in sufficient quantities in vitro to support their potential use in insulin gene therapy. Genetic variation of MMP ‐2(‐735 C  >  T) and MMP‐9(‐1562 C  >  T) gene in risk of development of HAND and severity of HAND
ConclusionIndividuals with MMP‐2 ‐735CT genotype, ‐735T allele and combined genotype MMP‐2 ‐735TT + MMP‐9 ‐1562CC enhanced the risk to develop HAND. Whereas MMP‐2 ‐735 CT genotype and ‐735 T allele and combined genotype of MMP‐2‐735TT + MMP‐9‐1562CC suggested protection from developing severe HAND. (Source: The Journal of Gene Medicine)

The neuropilin ‐1 receptor mediates enhanced tumor delivery of H2K polyplexes
ConclusionsCombining an endosomolytic peptide, H3K, with H2K polyplexes as a carrier further enhanced transfection in vivo. Moreover, the widespread distribution of H2K polyplexes is mediated by NRP‐1, suggesting that transcytosis of these polyplexes through the tumor endothelium may lead to efficient transfection.
