Inflammation‐induced transgene expression in genetically engineered equine mesenchymal stem cells
ConclusionsThe results of the present study demonstrate that on demand transgene expression from the NFkB‐responsive promoter using naturally occurring inflammatory cytokines can be induced in undifferentiated and chondrogenically differentiated equine MSCs. (Source: The Journal of Gene Medicine)

Lentiviral expression of GAD67 and CCK promoter‐driven opsins to target interneurons in vitro and in vivo
ConclusionsLV‐CCK‐NpHR2.0‐EYFP may be useful to target CCK+ interneurons in culture. GAD67/CCK‐driven lentiviral constructs are expressed in vivo, but expression is not specific for interneurons. Overall, expression levels are low compared to opsins driven by pyramidal cell promoters. Better understanding of GAD67 and CCK promoter structure or alternative techniques are required to reliably target opsins to interneurons using viral vectors. This article is protected by copyright. CYP gene family variants as a potential risk factors in drug addiction in Han Chinese
ConclusionOur findings show that allelic and genotypic in CYP3A4 and CYP1A2 are significantly associated with a reduced risk of drug addiction in Xi'an Han Chinese individuals. The result is needed to be further confirmed. (Source: The Journal of Gene Medicine)

Cancer‐specific Promoters for Expression‐targeted Gene Therapy: ran, brms1, and mcm5
Abstract BackgroundTo expand the library of promoters that can be used for expression‐targeted gene delivery to cancer cells, the specificity and strength of expression were evaluated for the promoters of three cancer‐related genes: RAS‐related nuclear protein (pran), breast cancer metastasis suppressor 1 (pbrms1), and minichromosome maintenance complex component 5 (pmcm5). MethodsThe expression of reporter genes under the control of these promoters demonstrated selectivity in cancer cell lines of breast, prostate, and ovarian origins, versus a panel of normal cell types. The pran was next used to regulate the expres...

Combined ultrasound targeted microbubble destruction and Polyethylenimine mediated plasmid DNA delivery to rat retina: enhanced efficiency and accelerated expression
ConclusionsThe key advantage of this article is that enhanced and accelerated pDNA expression can be achieved in the retina/ retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) cells in vivo by UTMD physical techniques combined with PEI chemical vector. This study provides useful basic information for further in vivo retinal gene therapy work. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved. (Source: The Journal of Gene Medicine)
