Association of incretins receptors genetic polymorphisms with type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in Egyptian patients
Conclusionwe revealed for the first time an association between GIPR rs2302382 polymorphism with T2DM in Egyptians. Yet, there was no significant association of GIPR rs1800437 or GLP‐1R rs367543060 with T2DM risk. The haplotype A (rs2302382) C (rs1800437) was associated with increased risk of T2DM. Furthermore, there was a significant increase of GIP and a significant decrease of GLP‐1 levels when compared the diabetic patients to the controls. An important finding was that there was a relation between both GIPRrs2302382 and rs1800437 variants with their cognate ligand levels. (Source: The Journal of Gene Medicine)

Multivalent methionine ‐functionalized biocompatible block copolymers for targeted siRNA delivery and subsequent reversal effect on adriamycin resistance in human breast cancer cell line MCF‐7/ADR
ConclusionsThe synthesized polymer vector can deliver siRNA molecules into tumor cells and then reverse drug resistance by down regulation of P‐glycoprotein (P‐gp) mRNA expression. (Source: The Journal of Gene Medicine)

Sustained secretion of anti ‐TNF alpha monoclonal antibody from ex‐vivo genetically engineered dermal tissue demonstrates therapeutic activity in mouse model of rheumatoid arthritis
ConclusionsThis work demonstrates micro dermal tissues engineered to secrete active adalimumab as a proof of concept for antibody sustained secretion from the novel ex‐vivo gene therapy TARGT platform. This technology may now be applied to a range of antibodies for the therapy of other diseases. (Source: The Journal of Gene Medicine)

Developmental history and application of CRISPR in human disease
Abstract Genome editing tools are programmable artificial nucleases, mainly including zinc‐finger nucleases (ZFNs), transcription activator‐like effector nucleases (TALENs) and clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeat (CRISPR). By recognizing and cleaving specific DNA sequences, genome editing tools make it possible to generate site‐specific DNA double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in the genome. DSBs will then be repaired by either error‐prone non‐homologous end joining (NHEJ) or high‐fidelity homologous recombination (HR) mechanisms. Through these two different mechanisms, endogenous genes can be kno...

Correlation analysis of HLA ‐DPB1*05:01 gene and BTNL2 gene within MHC region with clinical phenotype of psoriasis vulgaris in the Chinese Han population
ConclusionsWe indicates that HLA‐DPB1*05:01 gene was associated with the geographical region of PV and BTNL2 gene was significant association with family history and age of onset of PV. In conclusion, the HLA‐DPB1*05:01 gene and BTNL2 gene might cause the complicacy of clinical features. (Source: The Journal of Gene Medicine)

Oxidative stress gene polymorphisms may have an impact in the development of ischemic stroke
ConclusionsIt is unlikely that CAT and GPX1 single nucleotide polymorphisms are risk factors for IS. The results of the present study show that smoking may be a risk factor for IS risk in patients with MnSOD mutant genotypes. (Source: The Journal of Gene Medicine)
