Acute effects of different types of aerobic exercise on endothelial function and arterial stiffness
Conclusion
Both CAE and hIAE can favourably affect endothelial function, suggesting another cardioprotective effect of acute exercise. These types of aerobic exercise have a different impact on the central and peripheral arterial stiffness. (Source: European Journal of Preventive Cardiology)

Low aerobic capacity in middle-aged men associated with increased mortality rates during 45 years of follow-up
Conclusion
In this representative population sample of middle-aged men, low aerobic capacity was associated with increased mortality rates, independent of traditional risk factors, including smoking, blood pressure and serum cholesterol, during more than 40 years of follow-up. Cardiovascular risk prediction: Can Systematic Coronary Risk Evaluation (SCORE) be improved by adding simple risk markers? Results from the Copenhagen City Heart Study
Conclusion
The SCORE algorithm predicted CVD mortality in a Danish cohort well. Despite strong association with CVD mortality, the individual addition of 19 easily available risk makers to the SCORE model resulted in small risk stratification improvements. (Source: European Journal of Preventive Cardiology)

Polypill-based therapy likely to reduce ethnic inequities in use of cardiovascular preventive medications: Findings from a pragmatic randomised controlled trial
Conclusion
Polypill-based care is likely to reduce absolute inequities between Māori and non-Māori in the use of recommended cardiovascular preventative medications given baseline absolute differences and the consistency of the proportional effect of this intervention by ethnicity in this pragmatic trial in primary care. The impact of multiple single day blood pressure readings on cardiovascular risk estimation: The Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities study
Conclusions
Estimated risks of coronary heart disease, heart failure, and stroke for an individual can change significantly within a day due to changes in systolic blood pressure. Given recommendations to use estimated risk for therapeutic decisions, our study has implications for the use of a single systolic blood pressure in cardiovascular risk estimation. Synergistic effect of ezetimibe addition on coronary atheroma regression in patients with prior statin therapy: Subanalysis of PRECISE-IVUS trial
Conclusion
Compensatory increase in cholesterol absorption observed in statin-treated patients might attenuate the inhibitory effects of statins on coronary plaque progression. A low-dose statin/ezetimibe combination might be a promising option in statin-hyporesponder. (Source: European Journal of Preventive Cardiology)

Alcohol consumption and risk of atrial fibrillation: Observational and genetic estimates of association
Conclusions
Observational alcohol consumption was associated with a higher risk of atrial fibrillation in men. In women, only a high alcohol intake (28+ drinks/week) was associated with a higher risk. Participants with a high cardiovascular risk were no more sensitive towards alcohol than those at low risk. Genetic analysis did not support a causal relationship of linear association between alcohol intake and atrial fibrillation. (Source: European Journal of Preventive Cardiology)

Validating the HeartQoL questionnaire in patients with atrial fibrillation
Conclusion
The HeartQoL showed overall satisfactory psychometric properties, demonstrating it to be a valid instrument in the evaluation of HRQL in patients with AF treated with ablation. This suggests that HeartQoL may be a valuable instrument for making HRQL comparisons across the spectrum of cardiac diseases. (Source: European Journal of Preventive Cardiology)

Are aerobic interval training and continuous training isocaloric in coronary artery disease patients?
Conclusion
CTc expended significantly more energy compared to ITc, showing that the programmes used in the SAINTEX-CAD study were not isocaloric. In contrast, isocaloricity was met for CTw and ITw. (Source: European Journal of Preventive Cardiology)
