Educational inequality in cardiovascular disease depends on diagnosis: A nationwide register based study from Denmark
Conclusion
The degree of educational inequality in cardiovascular diseases depends on the diagnosis, with the highest inequality in ischaemic heart disease, acute myocardial infarction, heart failure and stroke. Small differences were found between men and women. (Source: European Journal of Preventive Cardiology)

Objectively-measured sedentary time and its association with markers of cardiometabolic health and fitness among cardiac rehabilitation graduates
Conclusions
Findings suggest that even among a group of post-CR individuals who are already probably more active than patients who have not undergone CR, sedentary time remains high and is associated with poorer cardiorespiratory fitness, suggesting a possible new area of focus among CR programs. The effectiveness of mobile-health behaviour change interventions for cardiovascular disease self-management: A systematic review
Conclusions
Our review found mHealth has the potential to change lifestyle behaviour. Results are still limited to a small number of trials, inconsistent outcome measures and ineffective reporting of intervention characteristics. Large scale, longitudinal studies are now warranted to gain a clear understanding of the effects of mHealth on behaviour change in the cardiovascular disease population. Burden of hypertension in China over the past decades: Systematic analysis of prevalence, treatment and control of hypertension
Conclusions
Although there has been a slight improvement in rates for the treatment and control of hypertension, these rates were still suboptimal, especially for men and people living in rural areas. Low and middle-income provinces had a comparatively huge burden of hypertension, which is a considerable risk factor for reducing life expectancy. Our analysis may be helpful in generating a current overview of hypertension in China. (Source: European Journal of Preventive Cardiology)

Sex-related differences in left ventricular structure in early adolescent non-professional athletes
Conclusions
Our results suggest that, in early adolescence, female athletes have lower left ventricular mass and thicknesses compared with males, without geometrical differences. Therefore, sex, independent of age, is a strong determinant of structural parameters also in early adolescent athletes. These data indicate that sex-specific parameters are needed in the pre-participation cardiovascular screening of adolescent athletes. (Source: European Journal of Preventive Cardiology)

The utility of the apolipoprotein A1 remnant ratio in predicting incidence coronary heart disease in a primary prevention cohort: The Jackson Heart Study
Conclusion
We found the apo A1 remnant ratio to be strongly associated with coronary heart disease. This ratio appears to better stratify risk than standard lipids, apo A1, and remnants among a primary prevention cohort of African Americans. Its utility requires further study as a lipoprotein management target for risk reduction. (Source: European Journal of Preventive Cardiology)

Prediction of the effect of atrasentan on renal and heart failure outcomes based on short-term changes in multiple risk markers
Conclusions
Based on the RADAR/JAPAN study, with short-term changes in risk markers, atrasentan is expected to decrease renal risk without increased risk of heart failure. Within this population albuminuria responders appear to contribute to the predicted improvements, whereas non-responders showed no benefit. The ongoing hard outcome trial (SONAR) in type 2 diabetic patients with >30% albuminuria reduction to atrasentan will allow us to assess the validity of these predictions. Circulating tocopherols and risk of coronary artery disease: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Conclusions
Our findings suggest that a deficiency in circulating total tocopherols might be associated with higher coronary artery disease risk. Whereas circulating α-tocopherol alone could not protect us from developing coronary artery disease. Further prospective studies were warranted to confirm our findings. Doses of rosuvastatin, atorvastatin and simvastatin that induce equal reductions in LDL-C and non-HDL-C: Results from the VOYAGER meta-analysis
Conclusions
Regarding reductions in LDL-C and non-HDL-C, each rosuvastatin dose is equivalent to doses 3–3.5 times higher for atorvastatin and 7–8 times higher for simvastatin. (Source: European Journal of Preventive Cardiology)

Endurance training and maximal oxygen consumption with ageing: Role of maximal cardiac output and oxygen extraction
Conclusions
The improvement in VO2max following endurance training is a linear function of Qmax, but not Ca-vO2max, through healthy ageing. (Source: European Journal of Preventive Cardiology)

Validity and reliability of the HeartQoL questionnaire in a large sample of stable coronary patients: The EUROASPIRE IV Study of the European Society of Cardiology
Conclusion
Overall, psychometric analyses of the HeartQoL instrument in a population of patients with stable coronary heart disease showed good reliability and validity both at the European as well as the country-specific level. However, further research should focus on the responsiveness of the HeartQoL, the possible ceiling effect of the emotional subscale, construct validity and the minimal clinically important difference. Is high high-density lipoprotein cholesterol beneficial for premature coronary heart disease? A meta-analysis
Conclusions
Low plasma HDL-C levels are positively associated with premature coronary heart disease in patients ≤55 years. As only small sample size case–control studies were found to focus on this age group in the last 10 years, additional population-based cohort studies with large samples are necessary.
