Patterns, predictors and effects of texting intervention on physical activity in CHD - insights from the TEXT ME randomized clinical trial
Conclusions
The TEXT ME intervention improved recreational and travel physical activity, reduced sedentary times but had no effects on work-related physical activity. It had incremental benefits at achieving target physical activity levels even in patients participating in the traditional cardiac rehabilitation programme. Occupational physical activity, but not leisure-time physical activity increases the risk of atrial fibrillation: The Copenhagen City Heart Study
Conclusions
High and very high OPA were associated with a significantly increased risk of incident AF. LTPA was not associated with risk of incident AF. (Source: European Journal of Preventive Cardiology)

Cardiovascular risk management after reproductive and pregnancy-related disorders: A Dutch multidisciplinary evidence-based guideline
Conclusion
Based on the current available evidence, follow-up is only recommended for women with a history of preeclampsia. For all reproductive and pregnancy-related disorders optimisation of modifiable cardiovascular risk factors is recommended to reduce the risk of future CVD. Clinical profile and outcome of patients with rheumatoid arthritis and abnormally high aortic stiffness
Conclusions
Increased AoSI is common, can be predicted by an ordinary clinical assessment and is a strong predictor of adverse clinical outcome at mid-term follow-up in patients with RA. (Source: European Journal of Preventive Cardiology)

The association of depressive symptoms with cardiovascular and all-cause mortality in Central and Eastern Europe: Prospective results of the HAPIEE study
Conclusions
Depressive symptoms predicted CVD and all-cause mortality independently of a wide range of potential confounders. The association followed a gradient and increased mortality risks were associated with scores below the cut-offs that are commonly used to define ‘depression’. Primary prevention of cardiovascular disease: More patient gender-based differences in risk evaluation among male general practitioners
Conclusion
Even before the onset of cardiovascular disease, women patients receive less satisfactory preventative management than men do, and these differences are even more marked when the physician is a man. More attention to the influence of gender stereotypes is needed in medical training in order to combat the inequalities that they cause. (Source: European Journal of Preventive Cardiology)

Ethnic differences in case fatality following an acute ischaemic heart disease event in New Zealand: ANZACS-QI 13
Conclusions
Major ethnic inequalities in IHD case fatality occur with and without associated hospitalisations. Improvements in both primary prevention and hospital care will be required to reduce inequalities. (Source: European Journal of Preventive Cardiology)

Diabetes mellitus, high BMI and low education level predict sudden cardiac death within 24 hours of incident myocardial infarction
Conclusions
The pattern of risk factors for incident myocardial infarction is different among survivors and those who die within 24 hours. The risk factors that contribute the most to death within 24 hours are diabetes mellitus, high body mass index and low education level, and can be addressed at both the public health level and by general practitioners. Impact of exercise-based cardiac rehabilitation on long-term clinical outcomes in patients with left main coronary artery stenosis
Conclusions
Exercise-based cardiac rehabilitation participation was associated with significant decreases in mortality. Our findings show that cardiac rehabilitation programs should be implemented in standard management for patients with left main coronary artery stenosis. A EUropean study on effectiveness and sustainability of current Cardiac Rehabilitation programmes in the Elderly: Design of the EU-CaRE randomised controlled trial
Conclusion
The study will provide important information to improve CR in the elderly. The EU-CaRE RCT is the first European multicentre study of mCR as an alternative for elderly patients not attending usual CR. (Source: European Journal of Preventive Cardiology)
