Is abnormal glucose tolerance or diabetes a risk factor for knee, hip, or hand osteoarthritis? a systematic review
Diabetes (DM) and osteoarthritis (OA) are two common co-existing chronic conditions. However, whether this is due to shared risk factors or may differ between joints is unclear. We performed a systematic review to determine whether abnormal glucose metabolism is a risk factor for knee, hip and hand OA, separately, independent of age and obesity. Predictors of hypogammaglobulinemia during rituximab maintenance therapy in rheumatoid arthritis: a 12-year longitudinal multi-center study
Rituximab (RTX) is an anti-CD20 monoclonal antibody that selectively depletes B-cell population. Thus, it presents a potential risk for the development of hypogammaglobulinemia and related infectious events. Our aim was to identify predictors of hypogammaglobulinemia in RA patients long-term treated with RTX. (Source: Seminars in Arthritis and Rheumatism)

Cardiovascular disease in ANCA-associated vasculitis: the danger lurking beneath the surface!
We read with great interest the recent article by Bai et al. [1] reporting that, along with traditional risk factors, higher disease activity at baseline also independently predicted cardiovascular events (CVE) and cardiovascular mortality in a large cohort of AAV. We discuss these findings in the light of recent literature. (Source: Seminars in Arthritis and Rheumatism)

Clinical value of autoantibodies for lupus myelitis and its subtypes: A systematic review
We conducted a systematic review to investigate the clinical value of clinical characteristics and autoantibodies, especially lupus-specific antibodies, for lupus myelitis and its subtypes. (Source: Seminars in Arthritis and Rheumatism)

Dactylitis: A hallmark of psoriatic arthritis
Dactylitis —long considered a hallmark clinical feature of psoriatic arthritis (PsA)—occurs in 16–49% of patients with PsA. In this review, we discuss the pathology of dactylitis in PsA and clinical and imaging tools used to diagnose and monitor dactylitis. (Source: Seminars in Arthritis and Rheumatism)

The effect of cigarette smoking on the clinical and serological phenotypes of polymyositis and dermatomyositis
Cigarette smoking is associated with immune-mediated disorders. We explored the contribution of smoking to polymyositis (PM) and dermatomyositis (DM) phenotypes and attempted to determine whether cigarette smoking effects differ by race and genotype. (Source: Seminars in Arthritis and Rheumatism)

Does nailfold capillaroscopy help predict future outcomes in systemic sclerosis? A systematic literature review
Nailfold capillaroscopy (NC) is an important diagnostic tool in systemic sclerosis (SSc). Confirmation of NC as a prognostic factor could facilitate earlier intervention and slow disease progression in SSc. We undertook a systematic literature review to evaluate the prognostic value of NC in predicting SSc disease progression. (Source: Seminars in Arthritis and Rheumatism)
