Paternal exposure to antirheumatic drugs – What physicians should know Review of the literature
Reproduction capacity and long-term preserved hormonal function are important aspects with big impacts on patients ’ quality of life. Updated information on the interaction between drug therapy and reproductive function is essential when discussing family planning with patients. Currently, limited data is published regarding paternal exposure to different medications. Thus, it may be a challenge for the practi tioner to choose the right therapy for a young male patient. Therefore we reviewed the literature, for effects of antirheumatic drugs on male gonadal function with a focus on spermatogenesis and offspring. (Source:...

A systematic review of precipitating physical and psychological traumatic events in the development of fibromyalgia
The role of physical and psychological trauma precipitating fibromyalgia is often encountered by physicians, yet a proper systematical review of this association is lacking. Literature searches identified 51 studies which examined the association of fibromyalgia with a preceding traumatic event of physical or emotional nature. The overall quality of evidence of studies included, as assessed by the GRADE criteria, was low, however the majority of studies described a significant association between prior physically traumatic events and the onset of chronic widespread pain or fibromyalgia. Dynamic patterns and predictors of hydroxychloroquine nonadherence among Medicaid beneficiaries with systemic lupus erythematosus
Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) is the standard of care medication for most SLE patients, however nonadherence is common. We investigated longitudinal patterns and predictors of nonadherence to HCQ in a U.S. SLE cohort of HCQ initiators. (Source: Seminars in Arthritis and Rheumatism)

Do out-of-pocket costs affect medication adherence in adults with rheumatoid arthritis? A systematic review
For individuals with a chronic condition, long-term management of their medication can be difficult and as a result non-adherence is common among this cohort. In patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA), the introduction of biologic agents was a revolutionary treatment but the high costs of this medication might limit their utilisation. Do out-of-pocket costs affect medication adherence in adults with rheumatoid arthritis? A systematic review
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic inflammatory disease that often requires long term treatment with multiple medications. However, medication nonadherence can be a major problem in patients with RA, and with the introduction of biologic agents this issue may intensify due to the high costs of these medications. Prevalence and incidence of psoriatic arthritis: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Psoriatic arthritis (PsA) is a specific form of inflammatory arthritis associated with psoriasis affecting in the same measure men and women but with a consistent geographic variability. Since the burden of PsA frequency has important implications in the definition of the healthcare policies, it is important to measure the frequency of disease in the general population. Treatments for giant cell arteritis: Meta-analysis and assessment of estimates reliability using the fragility index
To better communicate the results of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) of giant cell arteritis (GCA), we propose the use of the fragility index (FI), which is an intuitive measure defined as the minimum number of subjects whose status would have to change (e.g., from having the outcome to not) to render a statistically significant result nonsignificant, or vice-versa.
