High prevalence of hidradenitis suppurativa symptoms in axial spondyloarthritis patients: A possible new extra-articular manifestation
Spondyloarthritis (SpA), a chronic inflammatory, rheumatic disease, and hidradenitis suppurativa (HS), a chronic, debilitating, inflammatory skin disease, share several clinical and pathophysiological features, such as the association with inflammatory bowel disease and elevated cytokine levels IL-17 and TNF- α. Recently, SpA was reported to be more prevalent (2.3–28.2%) in patients with HS than in the general population. Conversely, the prevalence of HS in SpA is not exactly known. Cardiovascular risk factors predicting cardiac events are different in patients with rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, and psoriasis
Increased cardiovascular risk in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is well established. Examining traditional cardiovascular risk factors alone underestimates cardiovascular risk in RA. Systematic inflammation, measured by erythrocyte sedimentation rate or C-reactive protein is also a major risk factor. However, the contribution of traditional cardiovascular risk factors (such as obesity and hyperlipidaemia) compared to inflammation is uncertain in psoriatic arthritis (PsA) and RA. We examine the incidence of major adverse cardiac events (MACE) among patients with RA, PsA psoriasis, and controls adjusting for risk factors, inflamm...

Trends of Informed Consent Forms for Industry-Sponsored Clinical Trials in Rheumatology over a 17-year Period: Readability, and Assessment of Patients ’ Health Literacy and Perceptions
To assess trends in the length and readability of informed consent forms (ICFs) for industry-sponsored multinational clinical trials (RCTs) in rheumatology over a 17-year period. Additionally, to assess the health literacy (HL) and perceptions of ICFs among participants of current RCTs. (Source: Seminars in Arthritis and Rheumatism)

The use of routinely collected patient-reported outcome measures in rheumatoid arthritis
This study systematically reviewed validated patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) for rheumatoid arthritis (RA), routinely collected in clinical practice, and evaluated objectives of their use. An additional survey conducted among identified RA registries provided additional information about collection of PROMs.Medline Ovid and Embase were searched for observational studies using data of RA registries/cohorts, published between 2011 and 2016. The search combined a validated search algorithm for PROMs and RA. (Source: Seminars in Arthritis and Rheumatism)
