Comment on: Inflammatory myopathy associated with anti-mitochondrial antibodies: A distinct phenotype with cardiac involvement
We read with great interest the report by Albayda and colleagues [1] describing the association between serum anti-mitochondrial antibodies (AMA) and a specific phenotype of inflammatory myopathy with heart involvement. In this retrospective study conducted on a large population of patients followed at the Johns Hopkins Myositis Center in the years 2009 –2015, 7 cases tested positive for AMA. This result was first described using a myositis serum autoantibody panel assayed by the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation (OMRF), based on the combination of techniques such as immunoprecipitation (IP) with HeLa cell lysate, imm...

Diagnostic utility of automated indirect immunofluorescence compared to manual indirect immunofluorescence for anti-nuclear antibodies in patients with systemic rheumatic diseases: A systematic review and meta-analysis
This study aimed to review and compare the analytical and clinical performance of automated indirect immunofluorescence (AIIF) and manual indirect immunofluorescence (MIIF) as anti-nuclear antibody screening assays for patients with systemic rheumatic diseases (SRDs), such as systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and systemic sclerosis (SSc). No difference in cardiovascular risk of tocilizumab versus abatacept for rheumatoid arthritis: A multi-database cohort study
While tocilizumab may increase serum lipid levels, recent studies do not suggest a link between tocilizumab use and clinical cardiovascular risk in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). (Source: Seminars in Arthritis and Rheumatism)

A systematic review of viral exposures as a risk for rheumatoid arthritis
Different viral exposures have been implicated in the etiology of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Evidence relating to the association between putative viral exposures and the development of RA was reviewed. (Source: Seminars in Arthritis and Rheumatism)
