Cardiovascular disease in ANCA-associated vasculitis: the danger lurking beneath the surface!

We read with great interest the recent article by Bai et al. [1] reporting that, along with traditional risk factors, higher disease activity at baseline also independently predicted cardiovascular events (CVE) and cardiovascular mortality in a large cohort of AAV. We discuss these findings in the light of recent literature.
