Does fibroids surgery by endoscopy or laparotomy represent a malignancy threat?
CONCLUSIONS: The frequency of unsuspected ESS was 1/2,269 among the women who underwent myomectomies and hysterectomies for the treatment of benign uterine fibroids. The total incidence of uterine sarcoma was 7/2,275 among the patients who had presumed uterine fibroids or a suspicion of uterine sarcoma prior to undergoing the surgical procedures. Efficacy of carboxymethyl beta-glucan in cervical intraepithelial neoplasia: a retrospective, case-control study.
CONCLUSIONS: In conclusion, Colpofix® gel represents a valid alternative to "wait and see" strategy in patients affected by CIN1. Further prospective studies are warranted to confirm these results. PMID: 28675291 [PubMed - in process] (Source: Minerva Ginecologica)

[Evaluation of the effects of a natural dietary supplement with cranberry, Noxamicina ® and D-mannose in recurrent urinary infections in perimenopausal women].
CONCLUSIONS: This multicenter clinical study revealed the excellent efficacy and tolerability of Kistinox® Forte sachets in the treatment and prevention of urinary disorders in peri- and postmenopausal women. The posology of a sachet a day during the first 10 days of the month for 3 months was well tolerated by the patients, who did not report any disorder arising from the product. Dynamic quadripolar radiofrequency treatment of vaginal laxity/menopausal vulvo-vaginal atrophy: 12-month efficacy and safety.
CONCLUSIONS: Safety was excellent during all DQRF procedures and over the 12 months following the end of the treatment sessions. VLQ, PISQ-12 and SSQ scores (women with vaginal laxity), VAS self-evaluation of VVA/GSM symptoms and overall satisfaction with sexual life (women with VVA/GSM symptoms) improved rapidly, reaching almost normal levels by the last DQRF session and suggesting rapid, but also persistent, vaginal rejuvenation in both indications. A late tendency to some slight deterioration in women treated for vaginal laxity suggests such women might benefit from new DQRF treatments 6 to 9 months after the previous c...

Early detection of recurrence or progression disease in patients with ovarian cancer after primary debulking surgery: a diagnostic challenge still unresolved. Correlation between CT findings and CA 125 levels.
CONCLUSIONS: Increase in CA 125 levels >10.5% could be sufficiently predictive of PD requiring CT examination. Change of -0.5% is sufficiently predictive of absence of PD. Increase <10.5% and >0.5% needs clinical correlation to establish correct timing and extension of CT examination. Attention must be played in reducing number and extent of CT examinations to reduce exposure dose. PMID: 28598136 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher] (Source: Minerva Ginecologica)

The effectiveness of psychosocial assessment in the detection and management of postpartum depression: a systematic review.
CONCLUSIONS: Presently there is a paucity of published data on the effectiveness of psychosocial assessment in the detection and management of postnatal depression and results show conflicting evidence. Further randomised controlled trials are recommended to further elucidate the effectiveness of psychosocial assessments. Mini-sling efficacy in obese versus non-obese patients for treatment of stress urinary incontinence.
CONCLUSIONS: The current study showed that single-incision sling Miniarc seems to be an effective treatment irrespective of BMI. Operative data, complications, objective and subjective outcomes were similar for normal weight, overweight and obese women. Time remaining in labor and probability of vaginal delivery as a function of the angle of progression in a low risk population with a normal first stage of labor. In-house observational study and comparison with the data in the literature.
CONCLUSIONS: The AoP was directly associated with the time remaining in labor and was predictive of a successful vaginal delivery; however, the impact on clinical practice seems low. PMID: 28590104 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher] (Source: Minerva Ginecologica)

Maternal thyroid function in women undergoing controlled ovarian hyperstimulation during in vitro fertilization and its relation to reproductive outcome.
CONCLUSIONS: In euthyroid women, thyroid function changed significantly during COH, but these changes were not different between the three reproductive outcomes. Thus we do not suggest continuous thyroid function monitoring during COH. PMID: 28447444 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher] (Source: Minerva Ginecologica)
