Optical coherence tomography and intravascular ultrasound evaluation of cardiac allograft vasculopathy with and without intimal neovascularization
Conclusion
OCT-identified microchannels increased sharply within the first year and were correlated with intimal volume and coronary risks. This suggests that neovascularization may play an important role in the progression of cardiac allograft vasculopathy. (Source: European Journal of Echocardiography)

Value of CMR in quantification of paravalvular aortic regurgitation after TAVI
Conclusion
CMR is a reproducible, accurate, and reliable method to assess PAR severity. CMR may allow correcting an underestimation at TTE when AR index is doubtful. (Source: European Journal of Echocardiography)

Vascular response to bioresorbable polymer sirolimus-eluting stent vs. permanent polymer everolimus-eluting stent at 9-month follow-up: an optical coherence tomography sub-study from the CENTURY II trial
Conclusion
BP-SES shows an excellent vascular healing response at 9-month follow-up, which is similar to PP-EES. (Source: European Journal of Echocardiography)

Feasibility of ultra-low contrast 64-slice computed tomography angiography before transcatheter aortic valve implantation: a real-world experience
Conclusion
With our protocol, we achieved images of the aortic annulus and aorto-iliac anatomy of sufficient quality to allow patient selection and procedural planning for TAVI, with a substantial reduction of the amount of injected CM. (Source: European Journal of Echocardiography)

Three-dimensional echocardiography vs. computed tomography for transcatheter aortic valve replacement sizing
Conclusion
Aortic annulus measurements for pre-procedural TAVR assessment by 3D-TEE are significantly smaller than MSCT. In this study, such discrepancy would have resulted in up to 50% of all patients receiving the wrong THV size. 3D-TEE should be used for TAVR sizing, only when MSCT is not available or contraindicated. The clinical impact of this information requires further study. (Source: European Journal of Echocardiography)

Intracardiac echocardiography for guidance of transcatheter aortic valve implantation under monitored sedation: a solution to a dilemma?
Transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) has been established as a valuable alternative to surgical aortic valve replacement in patients deemed to have high or prohibitive perioperative risk. However, there are several technical constraints and procedural risks inherent to TAVI. These risks include annulus rupture, ventricular perforation, aortic dissection, coronary occlusion, and dislodgement or migration of the valve prosthesis to the aorta or the left ventricle (LV). Other complications may be related to inappropriate valve deployment and subsequent paravalvular leak. Most complications cannot be detected at an e...
