Device landing zone calcification and its impact on residual regurgitation after transcatheter aortic valve implantation with different devices
Conclusion Calcification of the device landing zone, particularly if located inferior to the annulus, was independently associated with residual AR after TAVI with all evaluated THV; however, the incidence of paravalvular leakage differed significantly between the devices implanted. Three-dimensional echocardiography-based analysis of right ventricular shape in pulmonary arterial hypertension
Conclusions Curvature analysis using 3D echocardiography allows quantitative evaluation of RV remodelling, which could be used to track differential changes in regional RV shape, as a way to assess disease progression or regression. (Source: European Journal of Echocardiography)

Typical blood pressure response during dobutamine stress echocardiography of patients without known cardiovascular disease who have normal stress echocardiograms
Conclusion BP responses during DSE vary and depend on patients' age, gender, and the use of atropine. We describe the typical BP responses seen during DSE and report normative reference values, which can be used for defining normal and abnormal BP responses to dobutamine stress. Incremental predictive value for obstructive coronary artery disease by combination of Duke Clinical Score and Agatston score
Conclusion The combination of the DCS and Agatston score improved the diagnostic performance for obstructive CAD compared with DCS alone and Agatston score. (Source: European Journal of Echocardiography)

The prognostic value of CT coronary angiography in patients attending hospital with troponin-negative acute chest pain and inconclusive exercise treadmill tests
Conclusions The presence of CAD assessed by CTCA is a strong predictor of adverse events in patients with troponin-negative acute chest pain and could potentially be used as an alternative, non-invasive risk stratifier in patients with inconclusive exercise tests. Prognostic value of left atrial reservoir function in patients with severe aortic stenosis: a 2D speckle-tracking echocardiographic study
Conclusion In patients with severe AS, a global PLAS <21% is an independent predictor of prognosis. Given the combined influence of LV diastolic and systolic function and of LA performance on sPAP, the decline of PLAS might be considered a marker of global myocardial impairment in AS. Further studies are needed to confirm the critical role of LA relaxation in prognosis and to validate its relevance in routine clinical practice. (Source: European Journal of Echocardiography)

Direct comparison of cardiac magnetic resonance feature tracking and 2D/3D echocardiography speckle tracking for evaluation of global left ventricular strain
Conclusion Although not interchangeable, the high GLS and GCS correlation between CMRFT and 2D/3DEST makes CMRFT a useful modality for quantification of global LV strain in patients, especially those with suboptimal echo image quality. (Source: European Journal of Echocardiography)

Doppler Echocardiographic Measurements in Normal Chinese Adults (EMINCA): a prospective, nationwide, and multicentre study
Conclusions Normal reference values of Doppler echocardiographic parameters were established for the first time in a nationwide, population-based cohort of healthy Han Chinese adults. Since most of these parameters differed by gender and/or age, reference values specified for gender and age should be recommended in clinical practice. (Source: European Journal of Echocardiography)
