Assessment of acute changes in ventricular volumes, function, and strain after interventional edge-to-edge repair of mitral regurgitation using cardiac magnetic resonance imaging
Conclusion
In severely compromised patients, marked reduction in MR by MitraClip™ implantation might not result in immediate improved cardiac output and effective biventricular forward flow. (Source: European Journal of Echocardiography)

Impacts of lesion angle on incidence and distribution of acute vessel wall injuries and strut malapposition after drug-eluting stent implantation assessed by optical coherence tomography
Conclusions
Angled coronary lesions had a higher incidence rate of OCT-detected vessel wall injuries and ISA compared with non-angled lesions following second-generation DES implantation. Further studies are needed to understand the long-term clinical significance of these findings. (Source: European Journal of Echocardiography)

Variable underlying morphology of culprit plaques associated with ST-elevation myocardial infarction: an optical coherence tomography analysis from the SMART trial
Conclusion
OCT analysis showed two dominant culprit lesion morphologies in STEMI: (i) lesions with plaque rupture with a large amount of thrombus or (ii) lesions without plaque rupture and a lesser amount of thrombus. (Source: European Journal of Echocardiography)

Comparison of optical coherence tomography and intravascular ultrasound for evaluation of coronary lipid-rich atherosclerotic plaque progression and regression
Conclusion
Although fibrous cap thickness on OCT was negatively correlated with plaque size on IVUS at single time points, changes in OCT parameters were not correlated with changes in IVUS measures over time. Lesion progression/regression on IVUS was not associated with changes in OCT parameters (fibrous cap thickness, lipid core arc, lipid index, and TCFA). (Source: European Journal of Echocardiography)

Limitations of coronary computed tomographic angiography for delineating the lumen and vessel contours of coronary arteries in patients with stable angina
Conclusion
CCTA has potential limitations in the accurate delineation of lumen and vessel contours in patients with angina, as there was a high level of discordance with the IVUS-measured lumen and vessel CSAs and high inter-observer variability. (Source: European Journal of Echocardiography)

Assessment of ventricular function in adults with repaired Tetralogy of Fallot using myocardial deformation imaging
Conclusion
RV free wall strain and strain rate are decreased in adults late after ToF repair, especially at the apical segment suggesting that apical function is most affected in these RVs. Regarding the LV, septal strain is decreased indicating that RV dysfunction adversely affects LV function, probably by mechanical coupling of the ventricles. Prognostic value of coronary CTA vs. exercise treadmill testing: results from the Partners registry
Conclusion
Patients with a low-risk ETT have an excellent prognosis at 40 months, despite the frequent presence of non-obstructive (32%) and obstructive (27%) CAD. In patients with an intermediate- to high-risk ETT (DTS <5), CTA can provide incremental risk stratification for future CV events. (Source: European Journal of Echocardiography)

Tissue Doppler echocardiography predicts acute myocardial infarction, heart failure, and cardiovascular death in the general population
Conclusion
In the general population, TDI identifies individuals with cardiac dysfunction and high risk of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality independently of traditional risk factors, even in persons with a normal conventional echocardiographic examination. (Source: European Journal of Echocardiography)

Transthoracic Doppler for detection of stenoses in the three main coronary arteries by use of stenotic to prestenotic velocity ratio and aliased coronary flow
Conclusions
Findings of pSPVR ≥2.0 or localized colour flow aliasing are useful in the non-invasive diagnosis of significant coronary disease in the three main coronary arteries, with high specificity for detecting significant stenoses. These findings showed high sensitivity for identifying significant stenoses in the LM and LAD, but showed lower ability to detect those lesions in the Cx and RCA.
