Basal hyperaemia is the primary abnormality of perfusion in Takotsubo cardiomyopathy: a quantitative cardiac perfusion positron emission tomography study
Conclusion Our results suggest an abnormal LV perfusion distribution in the acute state of TTC with basal hyperperfusion and a normoperfused akinetic region. The proportion of patients without visualized perfusion abnormalities in the acute state may represent a subgroup with fast remission. (Source: European Journal of Echocardiography)

Prediction of elevated left ventricular filling pressures in patients with preserved ejection fraction using longitudinal deformation indices of the left ventricle
Conclusion When compared with conventional echocardiographic parameters, other longitudinal strain, and SR indices, SRIVRT independently predicted LVEDP in conjunction with log diastolic blood pressure. We suggest that SRIVRT is a valuable parameter to evaluate diastolic function in patients with preserved EF. (Source: European Journal of Echocardiography)

Insulin resistance is associated with impaired cardiac sympathetic innervation in patients with heart failure
Conclusion Cardiac sympathetic innervation is more impaired in patients with IR and HF compared with matched non-IR patients. These findings shed light on the relationship among IR, HF, and cardiac sympathetic nervous system. Additional studies are needed to clarify the pathogenetic relationship between IR and HF. The influence of frame rate on two-dimensional speckle-tracking strain measurements: a study on silico-simulated models and images recorded in patients
Conclusion Standard machine settings with a FR of 50–60 Hz allow correct assessment of peak global longitudinal and circumferential strain. Correct definition of the region of interest within the myocardium as well as the reduction of noise and artefacts seem to be of highest importance for accurate 2D strain estimation. Normal left-atrial structure and function despite concentric left-ventricular remodelling in a cohort of patients with Anderson-Fabry disease
Conclusion Left-atrial structure and function were relatively normal in our cohort of patients with AFD, who were also judiciously treated with a contemporary strategy that includes renin–angiotensin system antagonism, statins, and ERT. (Source: European Journal of Echocardiography)
