Magnetoencephalography spike sources interrelate the extensive epileptogenic zone of tuberous sclerosis complex
We hypothesized that the extensive epileptic network in patients with tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) manifests as clustered and scattered distributions of magnetoencephalography spike sources (MEGSS). (Source: Epilepsy Research)

Valproic acid as an antiepileptic drug: Is there a clinical relevance for the epilepsy surgeon?
VPA induced coagulopathy is a major concern for epilepsy surgeons despite patients having a normal blood coagulation profile (Gallais et al., 1996; Teich et al., 2004; Unalp et al., 2008). However, quite a few significant VPA coagulopathy associated hemorrhagic complications have been reported (Kumar, 2005; Raghuveer et al., 1989). Few anecdotal reports of difficult hemostasis during surgery and post-operative bleeding episodes requiring evacuation of clots in patients on VPA therapy are available in literature (Cannizzaro et al., 2007; Pohlmann-Eden et al., 2003). Specific OCT1 and ABCG2 polymorphisms are associated with Lamotrigine concentrations in Chinese patients with epilepsy
Lamotrigine (LTG), which is one of the new-generation antiepileptic drugs (AEDs), has been prescribed widely in the treatment of partial and generalized epilepsy, showing favorable therapeutic efficacy (Stefan and Feuerstein, 2007; Pellock, 2007). However, significant inter-individual variability in LTG pharmacokinetics has been observed (Milovanovic and Jankovic, 2009). Along with clinical and environmental factors, genetic predisposition was recognized to impact the variability in the disposition of LTG (Rivas et al., 2008). (Source: Epilepsy Research)
