Specific OCT1 and ABCG2 polymorphisms are associated with Lamotrigine concentrations in Chinese patients with epilepsy

Lamotrigine (LTG), which is one of the new-generation antiepileptic drugs (AEDs), has been prescribed widely in the treatment of partial and generalized epilepsy, showing favorable therapeutic efficacy (Stefan and Feuerstein, 2007; Pellock, 2007). However, significant inter-individual variability in LTG pharmacokinetics has been observed (Milovanovic and Jankovic, 2009). Along with clinical and environmental factors, genetic predisposition was recognized to impact the variability in the disposition of LTG (Rivas et al., 2008).
