Response to “Radiotelemetric EEG recordings in mice — Critical role of transmitter bandwidth and nominal sampling rate in frequency analysis”
Dr. Weiergr äber points to the limitations of our quantitative EEG recordings in the frequency ranges beyond 125Hz. Indeed readable amplitudes decrease exponentially in the higher frequency ranges due to the limited frequency range of the transmitter. (Source: Epilepsy Research)

Pharmacokinetic variability, efficacy and tolerability of eslicarbazepine acetate –A national approach to the evaluation of therapeutic drug monitoring data and clinical outcome
Antiepileptic drugs (AEDs) are often used for life-long treatment of Epilepsy, and careful considerations of efficacy and tolerability are important for an optimal treatment outcome. A number of new AEDs have been launched during the last years. Eslicarbazepine acetate (ESL) is a new compound that has been developed based on the knowledge of pharmacodynamics and −kinetics of carbamazepine (CBZ) and oxcarbazepine (OXC) (Soares-da-Silva et al. 2015; Bialer and Soares-da-Silva, 2012; Verotti et al., 2014; SPC). Rebuttal to the manuscript by R.J. Porter
Development of new effective medicines for patients, who continue to have seizures or experience unwanted side-effects, is an important goal indeed. The Proof of Concept (PoC) human Photosensitivity Model, helps to achieve this goal by providing accurate PharmacoKinetic/PharmcoDynamic (PK/PD) data in epilepsy patients at a very early AED development stage and in a highly controlled, standardized and safe setting (in-hospital video-EEG photic stimulation tests and by minimizing AED administration to a single-dose).
