Prenatal screening for psychosocial risks in a high risk-population in Peru using the KINDEX interview
Conclusions: The relationship between past adverse experience and current stressors with perceived maternal stress, psychopathology symptoms and traumatic experiences confirm the importance of prenatal assessment for psychosocial risks. The use of KINDEX by midwives providing obstetrical care to pregnant women in urban Peru is feasible and can be used to identify high-risk women and refer them to the adequate mental health or social services for necessary attention and support. Early interventions are essential to mitigating the adverse effects of maternal stress, trauma and psychopathology on the fetus and child. (Source:...

Association of household income and education with eating behaviors in Japanese adults: a cross-sectional study
Conclusions: Higher socioeconomic status as indicated by household income or education was associated with eating more vegetables and conversation with family or friends during meals in Japanese men and women. Socioeconomic status should be considered in health promotion and diet improvement. (Source: Epidemiologic Perspectives and Innovations)

Associations between lifestyle behaviours and optimal wellbeing in a diverse sample of New Zealand adults
Background: In positive psychology optimal wellbeing is considered a broad, multi-dimensional construct encompassing both feelings and functioning. Yet, this notion of wellbeing has not been translated into public health. The purpose of this study is to integrate public health and positive psychology to determine associations between lifestyle behaviours and optimal wellbeing in a diverse sample of New Zealand adults. Methods: A web-based survey design was employed to collect data. Participants reported on their wellbeing and lifestyle behaviours including nutrition, exercise, sedentary behaviour, and sleep. Optimal wellbe...

Particulate matters from diesel heavy duty trucks exhaust versus cigarettes emissions: a new educational antismoking instrument
Conclusions: Our findings may be important for policies that aim reducing outdoor SHS exposure. They may also help smokers to quit tobacco dependence by giving them an educational perspective that rebuts the common alibi that traffic pollution is more dangerous than cigarettes pollution. Prevalence of using non prescribed medications in economically deprived rural population of Pakistan
Conclusion: The self medication among rural dwellers of Karachi is high . As a result, urgent steps must be taken to initiate the awareness and educational programs regarding potential risks of self medication. Secondly, strict measures must be introduced to stop supply of prescription drugs from pharmacies without prescription. Thirdly, provision of cost effective treatment from public sector hospitals to rural population can help to reduce self medication among rural population of Pakistan. Reduced pro-inflammatory profile of γδT cells in pregnant patients with rheumatoid arthritis
Conclusions: Changes of disease activity in pregnant RA patients were associated with functional changes in both γδT cell subsets. This reduced pro-inflammatory profile of γδT cells might contribute to the immunomodulation resulting in pregnancy-induced improvement of RA. (Source: Epidemiologic Perspectives and Innovations)

Giant primary pleomorphic adenoma of the lung presenting as a post-traumatic pulmonary hematoma: a case report
Conclusions: Our conclusion is that the surgical excision is the main treatment for pleomorphic adenoma of the lungs and we recommend lifelong follow-up and regular check-ups. Furthermore, we consider our case an interesting one due to its concurrence with the chest trauma and the dilemma about the optimal approach considering the entity could have been a large interlobular hematoma. Eribulin in pretreated metastatic breast cancer patients: results of the TROTTER trial—a multicenter retrospective study of eribulin in real life
This retrospective multicenter analysis was aimed to evaluate clinical activity and tolerability of eribulin in pretreated metastatic breast cancer patients in clinical practice. Patients treated with eribulin from January 2012 to July 2013 were enrolled in the observational study from 10 italian hospitals. Tumor and toxicity evaluation were performed according to Agenzia Italiana Farmaco. One-hundred and thirteen patients were included in the study. Median age 62 years old. 71.7 % of the patients had visceral involvement and the majority had a burden of disease involving two or more organs with a median number of 2 (1â€...

Morphological, biochemical, transcriptional and epigenetic responses to fasting and refeeding in intestine of Xenopus laevis
Conclusions: Our results demonstrate that the X. laevis intestine may undergo overall metabolic suppression at least at the transcriptional level to save energy during fasting and quickly recovered to moderate nutritional deficiency by refeeding, and suggest that these dietary responses of the intestine are epigenetically and post-transcriptionally regulated. Use of anti-tuberculosis drugs among newly diagnosed pulmonary tuberculosis inpatients in China: a retrospective study
This study assessed the use of anti-TB drugs among newly diagnosed pulmonary tuberculosis inpatients in China. The result of the study indicates half of inpatients might be treated with irrational regimens, which highlights the need to improve the rational use of anti-TB drugs. Paradoxes in dynamic stability of mechanical systems: investigating the causes and detecting the nonlinear behaviors
A critical review of three paradoxical phenomena, occurring in the dynamic stability of finite-dimensional autonomous mechanical systems, is carried out. In particular, the well-known destabilization paradoxes of Ziegler, due to damping, and Nicolai, due to follower torque, and the less well known failure of the so-called ‘principle of similarity’, as a control strategy in piezo-electro-mechanical systems, are discussed. Some examples concerning the uncontrolled and controlled Ziegler column and the Nicolai beam are discussed, both in linear and nonlinear regimes. The paper aims to discuss in depth the reasons of pa...

Decrease of myofiber branching via muscle-specific expression of the olfactory receptor mOR23 in dystrophic muscle leads to protection against mechanical stress
Conclusions: The decrease of myofiber branching in mdx mouse muscles over-expressing mOR23 reduced the amount of membrane damage induced by mechanical stress. These results suggest that modifying myofiber branching in dystrophic patients, while not preventing degeneration, could be beneficial for mitigating some of the effects of the disease process.
