Aplasia Cutis Congenita in a Newborn Child Associated with Two Fetus Papyraceous
We report a case with multiple lesions on the trunk, resembling an instance with ACC group 5. This form of ACC occurs in association with the in utero death of a twin or more (in this case triple) fetus. Histological findings are available in very few reports. Therapy options depend on the characteristics of the lesion, but conservative treatment is usually chosen. (Source: Acta Dermatovenerologica Croatica)

Eruptive Syringoma in the Elderly: A Case Report
Syringomas are benign tumors of adnexal origin, and eruptive syringoma is an extremely rare subtype. In this paper, we present a case of a unusual occurrence of eruptive syringoma in 66-year old woman that includes clinical and pathohistological findings and the review of the clinical picture, diagnosis, and treatment options. The Most Common Cutaneous Side Effects of Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor Inhibitors and Their Management
The use of epidermal growth factor receptor inhibitors (EGFRI) for the treatment of solid tumors is increasing due to elevated expression of epidermal growth factor receptors (EGFR) in the stimulation of tumor development. EGFR inhibitors have shown to be effective in the treatment of neoplasms of the head, neck, colon, and lung. Inhibition of EGFR may cause cutaneous reactions in more than 50% of patients. The most common skin manifestations are papulopustular lesions in the seborrhoeic areas (upper torso, face, neck, and scalp). Other cutaneous side effects include xerosis and hair and nail changes. The onset of eruption...

Dermatologcal Complaints of the Elderly Attending a Dermatology Outpatient Clinic in Turkey: A Prospective Study over a One-year period
The geriatric population is continuously growing, which leads to more aged patients being admitted to dermatology clinics. The aim of this study is to determine the dermatological complaints of the elderly attending a dermatology outpatient clinic. All of the patients aged 65 years and older admitted to our dermatology outpatient clinic over a 1-year period were included. Patients were divided into 2 groups according to their ages as group I (65-74 years) and group II (≥75 years). The patients were asked about their dermatologic complaints.A total of 240 geriatric patients attended to the dermatology outpatient clinic ove...

Stressful Life Events and Personality Traits in Patients with Oral Lichen Planus
The onset and aggravation of symptoms in patients with oral lichen planus (OLP) are related to psychosomatic constitution and stress involvement. The aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of stressful life events and neuroticism as a personality trait in patients with OLP. A total of 32 patients with clinically and histopathological proven cases of OLP (16 with the nonerosive and 16 with erosive form), along with 31 healthy controls without oral lesions matched for age and sex were included in the study. Neurotic tendency and intensity of anxiety, depression, and negative affects and the number and type of stress...

Reconstruction of Large Facial Defects after Delayed Mohs Surgery for Skin Cancer
The face is a common localization for skin malignancies. Mohs surgery or delayed Mohs surgery are considered the gold standard of treatment despite new drug developments. We analyzed our patient files over a three-year period. Only large facial defects ≥3 cm in diameter after complete tumor removal were considered. Twenty patients (9 men and 11 women) were found, with a mean age of 83.6 years. The following tumor entities were responsible for large defects: basal and squamous cell carcinoma, melanoma, Merkel cell carcinoma, atypical fibroxanthoma, and cutaneous angiosarcoma. Surgery was performed in all cases using region...

Disease Progression in Cases of Multiple Primary Melanoma
Multiple primary melanoma (MPM) is a well-known phenomenon, but outcome studies regarding patients with MPM are rare. Aim of our study was to analyze whether MPM are less likely to metastasize than single primary melanomas (SPM). In our study disease progression (defined by the occurrence of regional lymph node or distant metastases) in cases of MPM was compared to cases of SPM on a sample of 1698 melanomas. Statistically significant difference in the occurrence of disease progression was found between the analyzed groups, progression being significantly less frequent in patients with MPM (P=0.009). Also, MPM occurred sign...

Immunohistochemical Expression of Calponin in Cutaneous Basal Cell Carcinoma
Calponin is an actin filament-associated protein significantly involved in the regulation of the cellular motility. Some data have indicated that overproduction of calponin in basal cell carcinoma (BCC) of the skin may be responsible for local tumor invasiveness and more aggressive biological behavior. We studied the immunohistochemical expression of calponin in a set of cutaneous BCCs, in order to clarify whether the presence of calponin in cancer cells may be a predictor of invasive tumor growth. The study group consisted of 37 primary BCCs categorized into a non-infiltrative subgroup (5 superficial, 16 nodular subtypes)...

An International Multi-center Study on Self-assessed and Family Quality of Life in Children with Atopic Dermatitis
Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a common childhood chronic inflammatory skin condition that greatly affects the quality of life (QoL) of affected children and their families. The aim of our study was to assess QoL and family QoL of children with AD from 4 different countries and then compare the data, evaluating the effects of AD severity and age of children. Data on the Children’s Dermatology Life Quality Index (CDLQI) and the Dermatitis Family Impact (DFI) questionnaires and the SCORAD index of 167 AD children 5-16 years old from Ukraine, Czech Republic, Singapore, and Italy was used for the study. SCORAD correlated with the...
