Long‐term exposure to dietary sources of genistein induces estrogen‐independence in the human breast cancer (MCF‐7) xenograft model
ConclusionLong‐term consumption of low GEN doses (≤500 ppm) promotes MCF‐7 tumor growth and results in GINR tumors with more aggressive and advanced growth phenotypes. (Source: Molecular Nutrition)

Rutin potentiates insulin receptor kinase to enhance insulin‐dependent glucose transporter 4 translocation
ConclusionThis study shows evidence that rutin may serve as a potential agent for glycemic control through enhancement of IRK activity, thereby inducing the insulin signaling pathway causing increased GLUT4 translocation and increased glucose uptake. (Source: Molecular Nutrition)

Targeted metabolic profiling of pomegranate polyphenols and urolithins in plasma, urine and colon tissues from colorectal cancer patients
ConclusionSignificant levels of EA derivatives and urolithins are found in human colon tissues from CRC patients after consumption of pomegranate. Further studies are warranted to elucidate their biological activity. (Source: Molecular Nutrition)

The capsaicin analog nonivamide decreases total energy intake from a standardized breakfast and enhances plasma serotonin levels in moderately overweight men after administered in an oral glucose tolerance test: A randomized, crossover trial
ConclusionAddition of 0.15 mg nonivamide to a glucose solution reduced ad libitum energy intake from a standardized breakfast in moderately overweight men. (Source: Molecular Nutrition)

Resistant starch type 4‐enriched diet lowered blood cholesterols and improved body composition in a double blind controlled cross‐over intervention
This study examined the effects of a blinded exchange of RS4‐enriched flour (30% v/v) with regular/control flour (CF) diet on multiple MetS comorbidities. In a double blind (participants–investigators), placebo‐controlled, cluster cross‐over intervention (n = 86, age≥18, 2–12 week interventions, 2‐week washout) in the United States, individuals were classified as having MetS (With‐MetS) or not (No‐MetS) following International Diabetes Federation (IDF)‐criteria. RS4 consumption compared with CF resulted in 7.2% (p = 0.002) lower mean total cholesterol, 5.5% (p = 0.04) lower non‐HDL, and a 12.8% (p <...
