Radiofrequency ablation versus transarterial chemoembolization for unresectable solitary hepatocellular carcinomas sized 5–8 cm
ConclusionsBoth RFA and TACE are feasible treatments for large unresectable solitary HCCs. Both modes show comparable rates of complications and longterm survival, but RFA achieves better initial tumour control and results in better short‐term survival. Patient and tumour biology predict survival beyond the Milan criteria in liver transplantation for hepatocellular carcinoma
ConclusionsPatients ≤60 years may undergo LT for HCC with favourable outcomes independently of their tumour burden. Additional assessment of tumour biology, e.g. using the DNA index, especially in this subgroup of patients can support the selection of LT candidates who may derive the most long‐term survival benefit, even if Milan criteria are not fulfilled. Percutaneous needle aspiration versus catheter drainage in the management of liver abscess: a systematic review and meta‐analysis
ConclusionsBoth PNA and PCD are safe methods of draining liver abscesses. However, PCD is more effective than PNA because it facilitates a higher success rate, reduces the time required to achieve clinical relief and supports a 50% reduction in abscess cavity size.
