Past the Frozen Pizza and Straight to the Asian Aisle…
Shopping just doesn’t take long for me these days. I am getting to be an old hat at doing this. I know what I want and where it is when I walk in the door for the most part.  I was mainly interested tonight in the P.F. Chang’s frozen Asian meals.  I purchased a regular smorgasbord of these delicious large bags of frozen Asian cuisine tonight. My father doesn’t like Asian food.  He callously says it looks like something a cat would throw up. “Did you get all you needed?” my father worriedly asked, surprised it took me such a short while. “Oh, I forgot shredded cheddar!” I then told my father fr...

In Anticipation of Christmas Computer Builds…
As Christmas looms ever closer, I am trying to decide whether to move my computer back into the computer room. It is currently in the back bedroom where Maggie and I sleep. I miss looking at the cars going by and I like being nosey about what my neighbors are doing which the computer room affords. Soon, we will have a brand new computer to contend with. Built from bought and spare parts, it will have its own desk and will primarily become my blogging and writing computer. My main expensive powerhouse rig will be my gaming and multimedia computer. Waffle House After Midnight… I’ve seemingly got my days and nights swappe...

Comment Replies…
Summer said... My husband loves it when I make beef patties. Is the new kitty a stray that moved in with your parents?  Andrew Quixote said... Summer, yes he is. I was just over at mom and dad's house getting my Helen to-go plates and he was so glad to see me. It is a stray that has taken up residence on the back porch.  I almost brought him home with me, but dad would kill me if I were to do so.  Who knows what Maggie may do as well.   (Source: The 4th Avenue Blues)

OMG! Beef Patties!
Nom! Nom! Nom! Nom! Nom! Helen slow cooked a covered pan of beef patties and gravy this afternoon on Helen Fridays.  She said she let them simmer for about an hour and a half. They were extremely fork tender. I was asleep when mom called and I got dressed and hurried over to get my hefty plate.  We also had steamed cabbage, rutabagas, creamed potatoes, chowder peas, and corn bread.  Dad said the whole meal only cost $9 dollars.  I need to start cooking again soon with those kinds of savings! Here Kitty Kitty! Mom and dad tentatively have a new cat. It will become official once they name him. “He’...

The Book Thief…
Mom just called me. “Andrew, this is your Momma.” “Will you tell me what times The Book Thief is showing in the theater?” my mother asked gingerly hoping I would want to go. I got on the internet to see.  We both like the early afternoon showings and I told my mother that the earliest showing on Saturday was 12:15 PM. That would be 1:15 PM our time. “Let’s get the house sirloin at Applebee’s and then go Saturday to the show,” mom told me excitably. “Are you going to see The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug December 13th with me?” I asked with my anticipation growing almost to a feverish pitch. Mom...

I Love My Covers…
TabaniDiptera: Tabanidaedaeaenidae or  simply Horsefly as we call him. He always says he loves his covers and we all smile when we hear it. I love my covers.  My house was a tad bit cold this morning and the steady drone of raindrops on my roof could be heard.  I also had to shake the dew off my lily pretty badly as well as that was what woke me up. I hurried to the bathroom, turned up the thermostat, and then grabbed my iPad and jumped back in the bed. Maggie had quickly gotten in the warm spot I left in the bed when I went to do my business. “Scoot over stinker,” I told her. “You are running with ...

Guten Morgen!
Oh, wait! It is almost five in the afternoon!  I would have stayed asleep if it weren’t for my fabulous guard dog, Maggie.  She relayed to me that my mother was sitting out in her car at the curb – one of those giddy only for family kinds of barks so I knew it was safe to come to the door.  Mom didn't even have a chance to blow her horn as I was out to the curb in mere seconds. “I’ve got Maggie’s heartworm medications,” the secretary told me. “Her healthcare calendar says she is due.” “What’s on my healthcare calendar?” I warily asked my secretary rather amused. I was standing at that ...

Dangerous Liaisons…
Be careful of Alabama football fans today.  Right now they are an ornery bunch after last night’s loss. It was like poking a stick in a very agitated hornet’s nest. My family is giddy with glee and giddy to the point it is terribly contagious.  To the left is Charlie’s wife at the end of the game. Janice keeps me busy with computer repairs. She is just another one of eMachine’s victims. “Electric” was the word she used to describe the atmosphere after the game as fans swarmed out onto the field. (Source: The 4th Avenue Blues)

Naïve and Misguided! That’s Me!
“I just want to write and share my life with my friends,” I simply told my father last night unnerved at what he had just revealed to me. “I didn’t mean any harm.” Apparently, somebody on Facebook had told my father I was writing embarrassing personal details about my family and my life. My father staunchly refused to tell me who said that little tidbit of criticism. It could have been one out of a dozen souls. “You’re too trusting and naïve son,” my father told me. “Often to your very own detriment.” I let my father read many of my postings on Facebook and the vast majority of them were very innocuous...

Operation: Turkey Consumption…
It was the aftermath – an aftermath of social and epic proportions. I went to bed last night around midnight prying myself away from my computer and I am just now stirring about the house at 4 pm the next day. The sun is already growing slim on the horizon. I tell ya. All that socializing can take a toll on a socially anxious and introverted soul.  It was the first holiday soirée I’ve been to in years. Dad wouldn’t let me stay at home this time and he certainly wouldn’t take no for an answer. “Don’t act like you’re royalty! Thanksgiving is for being with your family!” he exclaimed. “So I expect to s...

Just Shy of a Normal Family…
I knew I was in for a culinary treat this afternoon when Charlie’s wife brought in a big dish of her signature sliced pot-roast. Dad was carving a monster turkey with an electric carving knife. Mom was sitting in her reclining chair reading a book while my brother and brother-in-law watched football on TV. My sister and my sister-in-law were outside in the backyard policing the kids. Mom always says that if you don’t want small talk then pick up a book and read. She’s never met Jermaine Is what I whimsically thought as she made that statement. We had so much to choose from as far as the food was concerned.  I e...

Special Gluteal Access…
My wonderful, kind, and patient nurse was granted special access to my derrière this morning. Yes, it was time for that injection that chases the crazies away. Dr. Kamath’s office was closed so Rebecca met Dad and I at the pharmacy so she could give me my injection. “It felt rough going in,” Rebecca told me alarmed. “Did it hurt?” “It just stung a little, but nothing like I have experienced in the past,” I replied. I bled a little today and Rebecca had some gauze at the ready along with a Band-Aid.  We never know when that will happen. Dad paid Rebecca fifty dollars as she was leaving. She tried to ge...

Got the Computer Bug…
My father had to use my computer to show me something about the royal family last night. He was very excited as he is a very excitable fellow. He is also obsessed with Wikipedia as a tool to explore and learn about such topics. “Is this one of the computers you’ve built?” my father asked as an aside after tootling around for a bit. “It is ten times faster than my computer. Everything is just so smooth and instantaneous with no waiting.” I told my father if he gave me five or six hundred bucks then he could have a computer like mine as well. “You’ve really got a very neat setup in here,” my father furthered...
