Who Does Your Dirty Work?
The magical cleaning fairies visited me today – or in other words, Andrew got in a very rare mood to clean his house. The kitchen is spotless and every dish is clean and put away.  I also cleaned out my fridge and freezer. I then Hoovered the house and got up all the dog hair.  This was more for my father rather than me.  He gets a good and pleasant surprise tonight and there will be accolades for me. I have to remind him that I don’t have a fulltime housekeeper like he does with Helen. (Source: The 4th Avenue Blues)

The Good Kind of Small Talk…
“How is your daughter?” I will perkily ask my nurse, Rebecca, in the morning as I take my place in the examining room. This immediately sets forth in motion the kind of small talk that is on a doable basis for me. I sit and smile as Rebecca regales me in tales of her young daughter who is on a big Lego kick at the moment. My main duty is to act as interested as possible and respond in an appropriate manner.  I got on this tangent tonight because my father just called me and reminded me that my injection of Risperdal Consta in the ole derrière is tomorrow.  This is my father’s so-called insurance that I wi...

Mexican Thursdays and a Bit Of Gossip…
I just searched the web for an image befitting bravado and it pulled up wall to wall women in bras. Whoo Hoo!!! I feel as if I am browsing the Sears catalogue as a kid. “You’re going tomorrow night, right?” my mother asked a moment ago over the phone. It will be Mexican Thursdays and mom says it is just not the same without me there.  Mrs. Sandra even put in a special request for me to go. “Sandra said you are such a good conversationalist,” mom told me. I about choked on the apple and cream cheese Danish I was eating. “I wouldn’t miss it for anything in the world,” I told my mother as I gulped with ...

Must Be That Villainous Meter Reader…
Maggie started to bark at eight this morning. I moaned as I stuck the pillow over my head. “Maggie?” I would holler loudly. “Quit barking.” Well, the sound of my voice just emboldened Maggie to bark louder. She was in guardian mode.  I then heard my next door neighbor's dogs start barking wildly as well.  Must be the meter reader. Maggie’s barking then reached a fever pitch.  I looked out the window and saw a very meek looking black man standing in front of my electrical meter.  He was carrying a very big stick to stave off dangerous dogs as well. He then walked around the back of the house to...

I Need a Dose of Woebegone…
I went back to bed at 9:30am and slept until almost three.  I guess my body needed the rest.  I doesn’t help that I am having lots, lots and lots of mental illness symptoms today.  I am finding it hard to concentrate on my usual time wasters like reading on the web and video games.  It is the neighborly way… “How sublimely refreshing,” I thought when I arrived home from getting my sodas this morning. My new neighbors waved and said hello as they walked from their car. An elderly man was walking with a cane.  I hurriedly walked over and shook their hands.  I told them if there is anyth...

Putting On My Best Politician Persona…
“Hey! Aren’t you John’s son?” an elderly lady said as I passed her in Wal-Mart. I winced.  It just wasn't my day socially. “Yes ma’am,” I replied as I turned. “And how are you?” “I remember you when you could barely walk!” And so it goes… She was just trying to be nice, and took a goodhearted interest in my life these days.  I just told her I fix computers and spend a lot of time online. The two things, she said, seemed foreign to her. She gave me a hug and we went about our way.  It wasn’t that bad, was it? (Source: The 4th Avenue Blues)

Let’s Put An End to this Thoroughly Taxing Day…
Mental Illness has about whooped my ass for the day. I felt off all day like my body and mind was out of control.  I thought nightfall and sleep would never arrive.  Let’s hope for a better tomorrow.  My Benadryl takes affect in 45 minutes, then I am going to grab a bite to eat and maybe a glass of V-8, and then hit the hay. Let me say this, though, about my mental health regimen.  My bouts with mental illness are not near, not nearly as severe as they used to be, and not nearly as frequent either.  This is mainly just feeling mentally uncomfortable in comparison to those past days – a jumping...

Where the Sun Don’t Shine…
And we are not talking about the far side of the moon… “What did you tell your mother?” dad said chuckling as we walked across the parking lot to Kroger. I had alluded to our little spat earlier in the day. “I told her to stick those Cokes in contention where the sun don’t shine,” I replied. “And then I turned off my phone.” My father laughed uproariously. “Your mother never could get the best of you,” my father told me. “She never could. You could always blow her out of the water.” “We are just alike,” I said to dad. “And I know how to get under her skin.” Mom timidly called me later to m...

On the Dark Side of the Moon…
“What’s with people today?” I asked my father as we sat in my den. “Everybody is showing their crazy side. Its been bedlam all day.” “Look east when it gets dark., “ my father replied with a grin. “A full moon is rising.” We both chuckled and cackled like a bunch of old hens. Could I blame the full moon on not being able to sleep?  It is 2am and I am not one bit sleepy. The Magster is sound asleep on the bed. This would be prime beer time in my old life. A six pack of ice beer would leave me comfortably numb and ready for the bed. Charlie was over as well and was busily making one hell of a racket in...

The Coming of the Storm…
It is heavily raining and thundering here – a joyous sound for this aching heart now that I am out of pizza. I wasn’t expecting thunder at all which was a nice surprise. I have just got out of the bed and we are not far from noon.  I am missing Charlie’s Sunday biscuit delivery today as they are out of town for Horsefly's state bowling tournament in Mobile, Alabama. Horsefly can run with the big dogs as far as bowling is concerned. You will be on the edge of your seat, though, that Horsefly will not bowl a gutter ball. He will show a very public display of primo displeasure.  He may even stomp his feet in ...

Esta Mañana…
The weather is gorgeous here and I hope it is the same where you live too. I just went and got some more of those Little Caesar’s $5 dollar pepperoni pizzas.  It was my mother’s idea and it wasn’t 15 more minutes until I was back at my parent’s house. You basically walk in, pay, and you are out again in sheer moments. “Thank you so much,” my mother said. “Let me get you some money.” I waved off the money telling my mother that today’s meal was on me. It was just $11.50 with tax. I also had two Helen to-go plates to eat for later. That will be my supper if I can resist eating the macaroni and cheese t...
