Texas Ain’t Got Nothing on This as Far as Big is Concerned…
Well, the uncomfortable and unpleasant deed that must be done is done. The gigantic needle has been inserted in my left gluteous maximus muscle and injected with two more weeks of “crazy-away”. I am now comfortably sitting in front of this computer in my pleasantly air conditioned house. I am so very, very glad to be home.  I feel as if I just climbed an insurmountable Mount Everest. The traffic on highway 29 was like the Daytona 500 – jockeying for position, I sped towards the pharmacy this morning. . Crystal was my nurse today and she was kind and attentive for a change. Sometimes she can be really aloof and...

Monty Python: The Bishop
Somehow, I don’t think the church of England would be too happy about this.   (Source: The 4th Avenue Blues)

Soul Food Friday…
Helen cooked her peppery, but delicious baked chicken tenders today.  The leftovers made for some really great sandwiches this afternoon. The chicken was very, very tender.  We also had fried okra, creamed potatoes, speckled butterbeans, yellow summer squash, and cornbread.  My father got Helen to also make some deviled eggs.  My father’s must have salad with every meal was a green salad today with lots of ranch dressing. “Baby, come get your plate,” Helen told me over the phone at lunch. I drove the short 5 minute jaunt to my parent’s house. When I got to casa de parent’s Helen was fixing ...

Terrible Words of Pain and Writhing…
On the post I wrote about a week ago that I was closing down the blog, were there some pretty nasty comments?  At the time, I couldn’t bear to read them. When you write something like that, then a few readers tend to lash out via the comments. I want to go back and read them, but I am afraid of what some might had said and what I might find. I just feel fragile lately. Thank You! Okay, I read all the comments.  Thanks you two for the heads up.  It would’ve been rude of me to not read them when everybody took time out of their day to write them.  Thanks again to all of you that read and comment! Some...

So Let the Mind Games Begin…
This morning was supposed to be my every two week injection of Risperdal. I take Risperdal to quell the symptoms I have from being afflicted and saddled with schizoaffective disorder.  Dad called me from the pharmacy about 8am when my injection was scheduled at 9am. I had been up since about 7am and was making some cheese toast in the oven. “We don’t have an injection,” my father told me solemnly as he apologized. “The girls forgot to order them.” I sighed deeply inwardly as I had already begun to feel strange last night.  I was getting the first twinges of an anxiety attack about to happen.  Thi...

The Nacho Supreme Express…
Yeah, it’s that time of the week again.  Today is the day mom meets Mrs. Sandra for Mexican Thursdays. I live a very regimented life it must seem and it is.  I am quite the hungry guy tonight and am looking forward to my full order of Nachos Supreme (I still say Taco Bell is better). My only extra request was for mom to tell them to put more jalapeños on my nachos. I called mom on a lark about an hour ago inquiring if my mother knew if dad left me some V-8 juice in the kitchen. He was supposed to pick me up some at the grocery store last night and he said he would.  Mom said she didn’t know anything abo...

NO! Please Don’t Cut Off Your Hair!
Lori just instant messaged me these two pictures asking me if I preferred her hair long or short. I had to delicately think over my reply as this was a dangerous question for a guy to answer. She’s been mulling it over for about a week with regards to cutting her hair short again. I finally got up the courage (I was like Admiral Farragut. Damn the torpedoes! Full speed ahead!) to tell her she better not cut her hair as I like it long. “You would cutoff all your beautiful curls if you do,” I delicately wrote back to her. “I’m bored with my hair,” Lori then wrote me. “I want to do something different with it....

V-8 Vegetable Juice to the Rescue…
I rarely, if at all, impose upon my father, but I did so tonight.  I didn’t let my inhibitions not allow me to get a few more groceries. I’ve been lamenting the fact all week that I forgot my V-8 juice I so dearly love on my trip to the grocery store Monday. I also didn’t want to provoke the equivalent of the “Spanish Inquisition” by shopping at the Piggly Wiggly with my debit card. “Please get me some V-8 juice,” I asked my father tonight as he was about to leave my house to do some grocery shopping. “You don’t even have to drop it by or deliver it.  I will get it with my Cokes tomorrow.” Su...

Who’s Behind Door #3? Helen, the Soulfood Lady!
Imagine my compete surprise when my mother told me this morning that Helen was cooking today.  I thought she would be on sabbatical since my father was gone. “What’s Helen cooking?” I asked my mother intrigued. “I know she’s cooking fried cube steak and rutabagas,” mom replied. “I am unsure of the rest. You know she will cook cornbread.” Helen always says rutabagas hurt her arthritic hands they are so hard to cut up into cubes. Mom then said she would call me around four this afternoon after Helen had plated up my meal. I will then drive over to get my meal and also my sodas for the day. “I am getti...

Whoa Nelly!
I might feel like writing later, but I don’t feel well at all today.  I feel like I am going to have a full blown anxiety attack at any moment.  My mental illness tends to run in cycles and I am at one of my low points in it’s ebb and flow.  I felt this way as well yesterday.  It all started today when I drove to Roger’s Barbecue to get two barbeque sandwiches.  I hurried home after paying for my two sandwiches.  My body felt as if I put my finger into a power outlet. Malt Vinegar and Me…
For supper last night, mom and I had the best Captain D’s we have ever eaten. It was really that delicious. The restaurant was full of patrons as well which was a good sign.  I love to pour malt vinegar on my fish and fries.  It pays homage to the time honored fish and chip shops of Great Britain or chippies as they call them overseas. Charlie arrived last night and wanted to know all about my mother’s and my trip to Captain D’s. Dad and Charlie are both amazed at how well my mother and I get along these days.  My father says it is because we are medicated now. I always wince when he says that. Charli...

Comment Replies…
skinny minny said... sounds like you are having a fun food week. :D question of the computer nature for you. My laptop ( an asus with windows 7 on it) has been giving me not responding messages. I am now really only able to run anything in safe mode. I have avg for virus and have run it several times. I have installed ccleaner and run it multiple time as well. I use foxfire mostly and uninstalled/reinstalled it as well. that worked for a day but now its back to the not responding message...any ideas? Andrew Replies… Skinny, it sounds like your registry might have gotten corrupted over time.  You could  try ...
