Investigation of MEFV gene polymorphisms (G138G and A165A) in adult patients with familial Mediterranean fever
Conclusions To our knowledge, our study is the first study in the Southern Marmara region that reports the frequency of MEFV mutations. Our findings imply that the polymorphisms of G138G and A165A may have an impact on progress of the disease. We think that more studies, having higher number of cases and investigating the polymorphisms of MEFV gene, are needed. (Source: Revista Brasileira de Reumatologia)

Characterization of inflammatory markers associated with systemic lupus erythematosus patients undergoing treatment
Conclusion Systemic lupus erythematosus patients receiving standard treatment presented with elevated systemic levels of interleukin-6 and interleukin-10, reduced neutrophil phagocytic capacity, and reduced lymphocyte expression of integrin even when symptoms were in remission. These alterations to innate immune components may put these individuals at a greater risk for acquiring infections. (Source: Revista Brasileira de Reumatologia)
