Increased resistance against ciprofloxacine-metronidazole in cholangitis
Objectives Because of the inappropriate use of antibiotics (AB) more and more pathogens become multiresistant, which leads to an increased mortality rate of septic condition. One of the most frequent focus is the inflammation of the biliary tract. To avoid the fatal outcome an effective AB policy plays key role. (Source: Pancreatology)

Diagnostic efficacy of liquid-based cytology in endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration for solid pancreas lesion: Single academic institution experience
Objectives Liquid-based cytology (LBC) has been proved to be effective for the cytopathological evaluation of several malignancies. However, its role in endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration (EUS-FNA) is not fully established yet, especially when rapid on-site evaluation(ROSE) is not available. Therefore, we investigate the diagnostic efficacy of LBC for specimens obtained by EUS-FNA. (Source: Pancreatology)

Endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration of solid and cystic lesions of the pancreas -A retrospective comparison with postoperative histology
Objectives Endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration (EUS-FNA) is a commonly used diagnostic method for pancreatic lesions and its results affect therapy decsions regularily. Therefore, we aimed to retrospectivly determine the diagnostic yield of EUS-FNA for pancreatic solid and cystic masses at our clinic. (Source: Pancreatology)

EUS-FNA wet technique for the pre-operative diagnosis of 31 solid pancreatic tumors: Pisa experience
Objectives EUS-FNA is an established procedure for obtaining a correct preoperative diagnosis of pancreatic lesions which is often indispensable to guide the right treatment. FNA wet technique relies on pre-flushing the needle with saline instead of the air column used in the dry technique. The aim of this study was to evaluate wet EUS-FNA technique with 19 and 22 Gauge needles. (Source: Pancreatology)

Endoscopic ultrasound-guided drainage of pancreatic collections: single center experience
Objectives Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)-guided drainage is a commonly used method for the treatment of symptomatic pancreatic fluid collections, such as pancreatic pseudocyst (PC) and walled-off pancreatic necrosis (WOPN). Data on efficiency and complication rates are heterogeneous. (Source: Pancreatology)

The additive value of endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) fine needle aspiration (FNA) cytology in differential diagnosis of pancreatic cystic lesions (PCL) in a tertiary-care centre
Objectives Pancreatic cystic lesions (PCL) have variables potential of malignancy. Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) is a diagnostic tool, but EUS-fine needle aspiration (FNA) role is still debated in PCL differentiation. Cytological analysis often is non diagnostic, obtaining low cellularity and a low sensitivity (30%). (Source: Pancreatology)

Usefullness and complication of needle knife fistulotomy for rescue therapy
Objectives Needle knife fistulotomy (KNF) is a technique used during endoscopic retrograde chlangiopancreatography (ERCP) to facilitate access. Double-guidewire technique is also useful method for difficult cannulation, but it increase post-ERCP-pancreatitis. We aimed to evaluate the success rate and complications of NKF after standard cannulation compared with that of NKF after guidewire technique. (Source: Pancreatology)

Minimally invasive and endoscopic methods of treatment of postnecrotic pseudocysts of pancreas
Objectives Acute necrotic pancreatitis (ANP) remains complicated problem of urgent surgery because of high frequency of systemic, purulent and septic complications, mortality rate, which is in patients with infected pancreonecrosis 14,7 – 26,4 %. The purpose of this study is to evaluate efficiency and establish indications for minimally invasive methods of treatment of postnecrotic pseudocysts of pancreas. (Source: Pancreatology)

Postoperative interventional endoscopy for the remnant pancreas of patients who have undergone pancreaticoduodenectomy
Objectives Secondary lesions and complications of the remnant pancreas have been increasing after pancreatectomy. Interventional endoscopy (IE) for the remnant pancreas is often difficult after pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD), as various types of pancreato-gastrointestinal reconstruction procedures are performed. We implemented a unique reconstruction after PD to enable easy endoscopic approach to the remnant pancreas, and studied the clinical usefulness of postoperative IE. (Source: Pancreatology)

Double balloon enteroscopy in diagnostic and correction of complication of resection-draining operation in chronic pancreatitic
Objectives At the present time there is a steady increase in the morbidity of chronic pancreatitis, and therefore the number of operations is increase too.In this case, the operations such as Frey, and Bern procedures are used widely, the basis of which is resection-draining principle with pancreaticojejunostomy (PJS) Roux-n-Y. These operations have their own specific complications, the diagnosis of which presents serious difficulties. In addition, there are a lot of insufficiently studied problems concerning the duration and adequacy of the functioning of PJS. The relationship between hyperechogenic pancreas and obesity
Objectives Identification of hyperechogenic pancreas (HP) is not uncommon during endoscopic ultrasound (EUS). However, the clinical significance of HP is still unclear. We hypothesized that HP is related to obesity in a similar way to its relationship with fatty liver. The aim of this study was determine the incidence of HP in patients undergoing EUS and to assess the relationship between HP and obesity. (Source: Pancreatology)
