The educational impact of web-based and face-to-face patient deterioration simulation programs: An interventional trial
There are international concerns relating to the management of patient deterioration. The “failure to rescue” literature identifies that nursing staff miss cues of deterioration and often fail to call for assistance. Simulation-based educational approaches may improve nurses' recognition and management of patient deterioration. (Source: Nurse Education Today)

Health professions faculty beliefs, confidence, use, and perceptions of organizational culture and readiness for EBP: A cross-sectional, descriptive survey.
Evidence-based practice (EBP) is an essential skill and ethical obligation for all practicing health professions clinicians because of its strong association with improved health outcomes. Design of A Nursing OSCE for a Clinical Practice Program
The evaluation of the level of clinical competence acquired by the student is a complex process that must meet various requirements to ensure its quality. The psychometric analysis of the data collected by the assessment tools used is a fundamental aspect to guarantee the student's competence level.AimTo conduct a psychometric analysis of an instrument which assesses clinical competence in nursing students at simulation stations with standardized patients in OSCE-format tests. The nursification of a bioscience unit and its impact on student satisfaction and learning in an undergraduate nursing degree
Undergraduate nursing students traditionally find bioscience difficult, which can be compounded by an inability to relate bioscience theory to nursing practice. Subsequently, many registered nurses feel they lack knowledge in this area. Several studies have identified this problem and focused on the importance of linking bioscience theory in undergraduate nursing curricula to clinical practice. The aim of this study was to assess whether nursification (the active association of a subject with nursing theory and practice) of the bioscience content of a first year, first semester unit impacts on the students' learning experi...

Boundaries between professional nursing and midwifery academics and scholarly research activities: Transitioning through communities of practice.
This critical reflection is based on conversations with professional academic colleagues. My experience as a professional academic is discussed, with a focus on how professional academics might benefit from working closely with communities of professionals who have similar aims and objectives in order to develop professional knowledge through scholarly research activities and education. My definition of a professional academic is based on my own experience: someone with a professional qualification, such as a nurse, health visitor or midwife, in an educational role in Higher Education (HE). Does the level of emotional intelligence affect the degree of success in nursing studies?
Emotional intelligence (EI) reflects the general capacity to comprehend emotions (in ourselves and in others), to regulate emotions, and to cope effectively with emotional situations. The study program in nursing is varied, and includes theoretical and practical aspects, but teaching EI is not part of the core curriculum. We argue that teaching EI should not only be included in the curriculum, but that EI tests should be included in the admissions process. (Source: Nurse Education Today)

Self-Tracking, Governmentality, and Nursing and Midwifery Council's (2016) Revalidation Policy
In April 2016 the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) introduced a new revalidation continuous professional development (CPD) policy. This policy states that revalidation is the responsibility of nurses, and although employers are urged to support the revalidation process, the NMC clearly states that employers have no legal requirement to provide either time or funds for the CPD activities of nurses and midwives (NMC, 2014, 2016; Royal College of Nursing, 2016). The aim of this professional development policy is to ensure that nurses and midwives maintain their professional competency and to promote public safety and confi...
