Thermographic and clinical evaluation of 808-nm laser photobiomodulation effects after third molar extraction.
CONCLUSIONS: Laser therapy was able to change the local circulation, although it did not significantly influence swelling, pain or trismus during the postoperative period. PMID: 27374361 [PubMed - in process] (Source: Minerva Stomatologica)

Vascular endothelial growth factor behavior in different stages of tooth germ development.
CONCLUSIONS: In our survey, the positive expression of VEGF in all the samples examined, might suggest a fundamental role of angiogenic gene proteins during all stages of embryonic tooth development. It is also characteristic the behavior of stellate reticulum cells, with a significant reduction in VEGF action between early and late stage, which could suggest a possible role of stellate reticulum cells, which would be able to promote and maintain an adequate energy supply to the tissues during early and late stages of differentiation and proliferation. The use of a collagenated porcine cortical lamina in the reconstruction of alveolar ridge defects. A clinical and histological study.
CONCLUSION: Alveolar reconstruction by means of the collagenated cortical lamina gave promising clinical and histological results. The rigidity and the slow resorption pattern allowed for the blood clot protection even in case of vertical defects, avoiding at the same time the re-entry surgery for its removal. Orthodontic management of missing lateral incisor; therapy note of a patient treated with mini screew anchored device.
CONCLUSION: Distal Jet reinforced with screws seems to be effective in molar distalization without any type of side effects. The advantages of this device were the absence of patient compliance, relatively predictable outcomes, favorable aesthetics, possibility of different activations in each side. Mechanobiology of the tooth movement during the orthodontic treatment: a literature review.
Authors: Isola G, Matarese G, Cordasco G, Perillo L, Ramaglia L Abstract Orthodontic tooth movement differs significantly from the physiological tooth movement, because it effects a biological response of the surrounding tissues of the teeth, resulting in a remodeling of the periodontal ligament and the alveolar bone. The result is a biochemical adaptive response to the application of the orthodontic force with the reorganization of the intracellular and the extracellular matrix, in addition to a change of the local vascularization. This in turn leads to the synthesis and the release of arachidonic acid, g...

Tooth discoloration induced by calcium-silicate based materials: a literature review.
CONCLUSION: For a wide range of these materials currently available in the market, only scarce or no evidence exist regarding their discoloration potential. The need for further research in this field and development of non-staining calcium silicate based materials is evident.
