Evaluation of tooth discolouration after the use of experimental medication as root canal dressings: an in vitro study.
CONCLUSION: In contrast to experimental intracanal medication 2, intracanal medication 1 did not promote tooth discoloration. PMID: 29792021 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher] (Source: Minerva Stomatologica)

Oral Health-related quality of life and clinical outcomes of immediately or delayed loaded implants in the rehabilitation of edentulous jaws: a retrospective comparative study.
CONCLUSIONS: Within the limitations of this study, the analysis supports the absence of significant differences between immediate loading and delayed loading full-arch protocol in term of clinical, radiological parameters and OHrQoL. Orthodontics and Moebius syndrome. An observational study.
CONCLUSIONS: Early treatment is recommended, with a multidisciplinary approach to diminish the impact of sequelae on the lives of MS patients or their families. PMID: 29527867 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher] (Source: Minerva Stomatologica)

Single blind, randomized clinical trial on the efficacy of an interdental cleaning device in orthodontic patients.
CONCLUSIONS: The combination of manual toothbrush and mechanical interdental device demonstrated a better plaque control and gingival inflammation levels in orthodontic patients compared to manual brushing alone. PMID: 29495655 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher] (Source: Minerva Stomatologica)

Skin irritation from a facial mask in Class III malocclusion: evaluation of individual silicone chin cups in a group of 100 children.
CONCLUSIONS: The authors propose a simple and effective solution to prevent skin irritation on the chin caused by a facial mask. A chin mask is a custom solution that can prevent injury to the chin during treatment when coupled with facial mask therapy. PMID: 29446267 [PubMed - in process] (Source: Minerva Stomatologica)

Tooth color changes and sensitivity in patients undergoing dental bleaching with 10% hydrogen peroxide using customized trays or strips: a randomized clinical trial.
CONCLUSIONS: The bleaching effect of 10% hydrogen peroxide is not influenced by the delivering system (tray or strips). Even though the technique with strips was associated to a lower frequency of dental sensitivity, the peak level of pain was greater when compared to the technique using trays. A self-report joint damage and musculoskeletal disorders data among dentists: a cross-sectional study.
CONCLUSIONS: The prevalence of MSD in dentists from São Paulo is high, and carpal tunnel syndrome is the most common self-reported joint damage. PMID: 29446269 [PubMed - in process] (Source: Minerva Stomatologica)

A comparative evaluation of APF gel, CPP/ACP paste alone and in combination with carbon dioxide laser on human enamel resistance to acid solubility using atomic absorption spectrometry: an in-vitro study.
CONCLUSIONS: Under the studied conditions, only, the APF group alone and in combination with CO2 laser could decrease enamel acid solubility. PMID: 29446270 [PubMed - in process] (Source: Minerva Stomatologica)

Bone dehiscences and fenestrations of the anterior mandibular facial bone wall: a retrospective Cone Beam Computed Tomography study.
CONCLUSIONS: A high prevalence of dehiscences and sites with thin buccal bone were identified in correspondence of the lower anterior teeth by means of CBCT analysis. PMID: 29431347 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher] (Source: Minerva Stomatologica)

New technique for large mandibular and surrounding soft tissue reconstruction that uses an intraoral three-dimensional distractor for one step transport disc distraction osteogenesis.
CONCLUSIONS: When compared with extra oral techniques, internal distraction has several advantages including improved stability, aesthetics, and patient motivation. The morphology, size and quality of the regenerated bone are comparable to those of normal bone, allowing both physiological mandibular aesthetic and function, especially following implant insertion and prosthetic dental rehabilitation. Vitamin D modulatory effect on cytokines expression by human gingival fibroblasts and periodontal ligament cells.
CONCLUSIONS: Within the limits of the study, the obtained results support the hypothesis of a modulatory role of VD on periodontal cells exposed to bacterial infection, reducing their inflammatory response and increasing the secretion of anti-inflammatory and modulatory cytokines. Consequently, it could be speculated that Vitamin D assessment, and its possible implementation in deficiency cases, could play a role in periodontal treatment. Teeth agenesis evaluation in an Italian sample of complete unilateral and bilateral cleft lip and palate patients.
CONCLUSIONS: This study is the first that evaluates the prevalence and distribution of hypodontia in an Italian population with cleft lip and palate. The higher congenital absence of dental elements in this group than healthy general patients is an important aspect to consider for a functional and aesthetic oral rehabilitation. Tooth-borne distraction osteogenesis versus conventional Le Fort I in maxillary advancement of cleft lip and palate patients.
CONCLUSIONS: Current evidence suggests that both conventional LeFort 1 and tooth-borne osteogenic distraction device can effectively advance the maxilla forward in patients with cleft lip. PMID: 29388417 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher] (Source: Minerva Stomatologica)
