Surgical fenestrated approach to the maxillary sinus like alternative to Caldwell-Luc technique.
CONCLUSIONS: No complications occurred in the intraoperative period and during the months of follow-up. There has been no recurrence of the starting problem and all treated patients were free from residual maxillary pathology 18 months after surgery. Four works meeting the inclusion criteria were identified. The surgical fenestrated approach to the maxillary sinus is a valid alternative to the classical Caldwell-Luc techniques that, alone or in combination with endoscopic sinus surgery, allow to treat foreign bodies of maxillary sinus, of mucoceles and other diseases of the maxillary sinus. The proposed technique does not ...

Fear and anxiety managing methods during dental treatments: a systematic review of recent data.
CONCLUSIONS: It is clear that there are different methods and equally different ways to manage our patients in the event of non-cooperation in the case of dental care. In addition to proper management by the clinician, in the literature methods linked to audiovisual distractions, hypnosis or pharmacological methods that produce conscious sedation are effectively reported. Sequelae in permanent teeth after traumatic injuries to primary dentition.
Authors: La Monaca G, Pranno N, Vozza I, Annibali S, Polimeni A, Bossù M, Cristalli MP Abstract Traumatic injuries to the primary dentition are critical events in dentistry not only due to the need for urgent care, but also since they have potential sequelae in the permanent dentition, with a prevalence ranging from 12% to 74%. The aim of this article was to provide an overview of the prevalence, etiology, and clinical and radiographic characteristics as well as the management of permanent teeth sequelae resulting from traumatic injuries to their deciduous predecessors. An extensive literature review was ...

Fresh-frozen homologous bone in sinus lifting: histological and radiological analysis.
CONCLUSIONS: Fresh frozen homologous bone seems to have a good healing pattern and to be a successful and steady grafting material for the treatment of maxillary ridge atrophy. It might be considered a valid alternative to autologous bone in sinus floor augmentation procedures. PMID: 31822046 [PubMed - in process] (Source: Minerva Stomatologica)

Photoelastic analysis of tension distribution in different orthodontic approaches for closing anterior open bites.
CONCLUSIONS: The GEAW technique showed a more favorable tension distribution pattern than the MEAW approach. The use of elastic bands improved tension distribution, regardless of the technique. The results also suggest that the use of anterior elastic bands in both techniques reduced the tensions released by the intrusive forces generated by the archwires. Temperature variations in pulp chamber: an in vitro comparison between ultrasonic and rotating instruments in tooth preparation.
CONCLUSIONS: Within limitations of this study, temperature increasing of ultrasonic instruments shows a statistical difference related to rotary ones. But, as literature shows, the ultrasonic advantages are margin precision, preservation of soft tissues and reduction of operating times. Furthermore, in relation with results of this study, they could be considered safe for pulp vitality because the increase in pulpal temperature is similar to traditional instruments and it doesn't exceed the critical level of 5,5°C.
