Isolated skeletal muscle metastatic deposit in a patient with micropapillary carcinoma thyroid identified by 18F FDG PET CT
We report the identification of an isolated FDG avid muscle deposit in a treated case of micropapillary carcinoma of the right lobe and widely invasive follicular carcinoma of the left lobe thyroid gland. Patient was found to have an elevated thyroglobulin level with negative iodine scan (TENIS syndrome) on follow up at 6months. An 18F FDG PET CT (18 fluorine-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission computed tomography) whole body study revealed a solitary FDG avid deltoid muscle deposit which was histopathologically confirmed to be metastatic papillary carcinoma. While follicular carcinoma is known to have distant metastases,...

Dosimetric prospective study comparing 2D and 3D planning for irradiation of supraclavicular and infraclavicular regions in breast cancer patients
Conclusions From the present study we concluded that the coverage of the supraclavicular and infraclavicular PTV is significantly worse with the 2D technique using a single oblique field at a fixed depth of 3cm for all patients despite their different builts. Sphincter saving and abdomino-perineal resections following neoadjuvant chemoradiation in locally advanced low rectal cancer
Conclusion In low rectal cancer, the sphincter preservation appears to have nearly the same oncologic outcome compared to APR, this might be attributed to the small sample size and short follow up period. However, patients with sphincter preservation have certainly demonstrated an indisputable better functional outcome, in terms of stoma avoidance and adequate continence. Expression of a disintegrin and metalloprotease 8 and endostatin in human osteosarcoma: Implication in tumor progression and prognosis
Conclusion Our data suggest that ADAM8 and endostatin play a role in osteosarcoma progression. High ADAM8 expression serves as a reliable marker for poor prognosis in osteosarcoma patients. (Source: Journal of the Egyptian National Cancer Institute)

Transarterial chemoembolization for the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma: A single center experience including 221 patients
Conclusion TACE produces reasonable responses and fair survival rates in locally advanced HCC but with noticeable toxicities. Proper patients’ selection and prompt liver support are mandates for improving TACE outcomes. (Source: Journal of the Egyptian National Cancer Institute)

The prognostic significance of minimal residual disease in adult Egyptian patients with precursor acute lymphoblastic leukemia
Conclusion MRD by FCM is a strong independent predictor of outcome in terms of DFS and OS and is a powerful informative parameter in guiding individual treatment in ALL patients. (Source: Journal of the Egyptian National Cancer Institute)

CCAAT/enhancer binding protein α gene expression in Egyptian patients with acute myeloid leukemia
Conclusion We conclude that the majority of the AML patients analyzed, express low levels of C/EBPa mRNA. However, a subset of patients represented by the M3 subtype, express higher levels of C/EBPa. (Source: Journal of the Egyptian National Cancer Institute)

Gastric diffuse large B cell lymphoma presenting as paraneoplastic cerebellar degeneration: Case report and review of literature
We report a case of PCD associated with gastric diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) in a patient who presented with acute onset of giddiness and double vision and had complete remission of the gastric lesion and marked improvement of cerebellar syndrome with rituximab-based combination chemotherapy. DJ-1 and androgen receptor immunohistochemical expression in prostatic carcinoma: A possible role in carcinogenesis
Conclusion AR nuclear expression was consistently present in benign and adenocarcinoma epithelium. But, there may be limited clinical use for AR expression in localized carcinoma due to its constant heterogeneity. DJ-1 with its oncogenic properties, specificity for prostatic carcinoma and homogenous expression gives an ideal complementary role to AR in the detection and treatment of prostatic carcinomas.
