A novel spectrophotometric method for the determination of copper ion by using a salophen ligand, N,N ′-disalicylidene-2,3-diaminopyridine
In this study, a novel, selective and highly sensitive spectrophotometric method has been developed for the determination of copper(II) by using a new chromogenic reagent N,N′-bissalicylidene-2,3-diaminopyridine (H2IF). The absorbance was measured at λmax=414nm. Experimental conditions were optimized, and Beer’s law was observed in the concentration range of 6.35–318μgL−1 of copper. The molar absorptivity of the complex was calculated and found to be 1.46×105 Lmol−1 cm−1. The detection and quantification limits were calculated and found to be 6.38μgL−1 and 21.27μgL−1, respectively. The calculated relat...

Publication date: Available online 24 May 2017 Source:Journal of Taibah University for Science Author(s): F. Ghomanjani In this paper, the Bezier curves method is implemented to give approximate solutions for fractional differential-algebraic equations (FDAEs). This methods in applied mathematics can be used as approximated method for obtaining approximate solutions for different types of fractional differential equations. An illustrative example is included to demonstrate the validity and applicability of the suggested approach. (Source: Journal of Taibah University for Science)

Alleviating salt stress in tomato inoculated with mycorrhizae: photosynthetic performance and enzymatic antioxidants
Publication date: Available online 13 May 2017 Source:Journal of Taibah University for Science Author(s): Mohsen K.H. Ebrahim, Abdel-Rahman Saleem Tomato cultivars (Sultana-7 & Super Strain-B) were germinated under various levels (0–200mM) of NaCl. Seed germination of Super Strain-B was promoted at 25mM NaCl. However, the germination of both cultivars was progressively inhibited at 50 and 100mM, and stopped at 200mM, but the response was more pronounced in case of Sultana-7. Therefore, Super Strain-B was selected for further investigation, after growing under NaCl stress (50 & 100mM) and inoculation w...

Publication date: Available online 16 January 2017 Source:Journal of Taibah University for Science Author(s): A. KH. Alassafee, M.S. Omar The modified Debye–Einstein approximation model is used to calculate nanoscale size-dependent values of Gruneisen parameters and lattice specific heat capacity for Si nanowires. All parameters forming the model, including Debye temperatures, bulk moduli, the lattice thermal expansion and the lattice volume, are calculated according to their nanoscale size dependence. Values for lattice volume Gruneisen parameters increase with the decrease of the nanowires’ diameter, while all ot...
