Antibacterial activity of Miswak (Salvadora persica L.) extracts on oral hygiene
This study investigates the presence of antimicrobial agents in Miswak extracts based on their polarity in different solvents. Results of this study shows that Miswak contains more than one kind of antimicrobial agents that inhibits the growth of both gram positive and negative bacteria. Zone of inhibition for three different extracts was measured on E.coli, Staph. aureus, L. acidophilus, Strep. mutans and P. aeruginosa, results shows a strong antimicrobial activity in aqueous extract and less activity in alcoholic and nonpolar extracts. Geoelectrical parameter based multivariate regression borehole yield model for predicting aquifer yield in managing groundwater resource sustainability
This study developed a GIS - based multivariate regression (MVR) yield rate prediction model of groundwater resource sustainability in the hardrock geology terrain southwestern, Nigeria. With this model, the aquifer yield rate potential prediction that are often trivialized in groundwater resources development can be well managed economically. The proposed model relates the borehole yield rate inventory of the area to the geoelectrical derived parameters. Three sets of borehole yield rate conditioning geoelectrical derived parameters namely: aquifer unit resistivity (ρ), aquifer unit thickness (D) and coefficient of aniso...
