ConclusionOur study has shown significant low levels of serum omentin-1 in obese type 2 diabetic females in comparison to healthy subjects. Omentin-1 inversely related to obesity, insulin resistance and SBP. No significant associations with glycemic control and fasting lipids. Bimodal glucose distribution in Asian Indian pregnant women: Relevance in gestational diabetes mellitus diagnosis
ConclusionBPG is noted for both FPG and 2-hPG in Asian Indian pregnant women. The cutpoints of normal distribution curves are close to threshold values for FPG and 2-h PG proposed in NICE (National Institute for health and Care Excellence) and IADPSG (International Association of Diabetes and Pregnancy Study Group) GDM diagnostic criteria respectively. Further research on BPG in pregnant women of racial groups with high GDM prevalence, is likely to be of value in GDM diagnosis. (Source: Journal of Clinical and Translational Endocrinology)

Crohn’s disease patient serum changes protein expression in a human mesenchymal stem cell model in a linear relationship to patients’ disease stage and to bone mineral density
ConclusionOur explorative results confirm our hypothesis that factors in serum from patients with CD change the protein expression pattern of human immortalized osteoblast like cells. The impact of an adrenal incidentaloma algorithm on the evaluation of adrenal nodules
ConclusionImplementation of a clinical algorithm for the evaluation of adrenal incidentalomas in radiology reports and on the intranet site of a major clinical center led to improved rates of hormone testing. There was also a significant increase in the rate of follow up imaging, compared to when no guidance was given. Additional efforts to further improve performance are needed to increase the detection of clinically significant lesions, particularly hormone secreting tumors that should be removed. ConclusionsCholecalciferol dosing in excess of the current Institute of Medicine dietary reference intakes was required to achieve 25OHD levels ≥20 ng/mL in obese, AA adolescents. Impact of vitamin D treatment on 25 hydroxy vitamin D levels and insulin homeostasis in obese African American adolescents in a randomized trial
ConclusionWhile serum 25(OH)D levels in obese AA teens increased adequately with vitamin treatment for 12 weeks and correlated with fasting insulin, it did not significantly impact insulin secretion or sensitivity. Prevalence of hypovitaminosis D, and its association with hypoadiponectinemia and hyperfollistatinemia, in Saudi women with naïve polycystic ovary syndrome
ConclusionHypovitaminosis D, coexisted and correlated with hypoadiponectinemia and hyperfollistatinemia, is being an alarming risk factor in Saudi women with PCOS. Further investigational and explanatory studies in large size samples are warranted to realize these findings and to improve both diagnostic and treatment tools in Saudi women with PCOS. The genetic determinants of circulating C3-epimers of 25-hydroxyvitamin D
ConclusionTo the best of our knowledge, this is the first study to demonstrate genetic models concerning the variation in C3-epimer levels. Our results emphasize that genetic determinants and the potential factors of C3-epimers differ from non-C3-epimers. This study contributes fundamental knowledge of the endogenous vitamin D pathway. Patient-factors associated with metformin steady-state levels in type 2 diabetes mellitus with therapeutic dosage
ConclusionsAlong with initial hyperglycemia and eGFR, metformin Cssmin became the only parameter that influenced FBG level (P < 0.05). Duration of previous metformin use should be considered in the strategy of optimizing metformin dosage. The type-2 diabetes patients with obesity are more suggested to take shorter interval of metformin administration (or possibly with sustained-release formulation) to keep Cssmin within the therapeutic range. Influence of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-γ exon 2 and exon 6 and insulin receptor substrate (IRS)-1 Gly972Arg polymorphisms on insulin resistance and beta-cell function in southern mediterranean women with polycystic ovary syndrome
ConclusionsOur data support the protective influence of PPAR-γ-exon 2 and exon 6 variants on IR and beta cell function, whereas IRS-1 polymorphism is associated with an unfavorable metabolic profile.
