The AGE-RAGE Axis in an Arab Population: The United Arab Emirates Healthy Futures (UAEHFS) Pilot Study
Conclusions The AGE-RAGE axis is associated with diabetes status and obesity in this Arab population. Prospective serial analysis of this axis may identify predictive biomarkers of obesity and cardiometabolic dysfunction in the UAEHFS. (Source: Journal of Clinical and Translational Endocrinology)

The influence of diabetes distress on digital interventions for diabetes management in vulnerable people with type 2 diabetes: A qualitative study of patient perspectives
Conclusion Vulnerable people with T2DM are unprepared for digital interventions for disease management. Experiencing diabetes distress may be an intermediate mechanism leading to nonadherence to digital interventions and the preference for human interaction in vulnerable people with T2DM. Future interventions could include a designated caregiver and an allocated buddy to provide support and assist uptake of digital interventions for diabetes management. Development of a youth-report measure of DPN symptoms: Conceptualization and Content Validation
Conclusions This study is the first to generate a content valid self-report measure of youth’s lived experiences with DPN that uses developmentally appropriate terminology. With further psychometric testing, the measure could be used to advance research on pediatric DPN and enhance clinicians’ capacity to identify the condition in childhood. High Prevalence of Diabetes and Abnormal Glucose Tolerance in Thai Women with Previous Gestational Diabetes Mellitus
Conclusions Eighty-one percent of pGDM women developed AGT within 4 years after delivery. Risk factors for AGT were PG ≥150 mg/dl at 1 h after a 50g-GCT and ≥3 abnormal PG values in a 100g-OGTT. (Source: Journal of Clinical and Translational Endocrinology)

Outpatient management of steroid-induced hyperglycaemia and steroid-induced diabetes in people with lymphoproliferative disorders treated with intermittent high dose steroids
Publication date: Available online 24 June 2017 Source:Journal of Clinical & Translational Endocrinology Author(s): Jennifer Vidler, Charlotte Rogers, Deborah Yallop, Stephen Devereux, Ellinor Wellving, Orla Stewart, Alison Cox, Katharine F. Hunt, Shireen Kassam High dose steroids (HDS) are used in the treatment of haematological malignancies. The reported risk of steroid-induced diabetes (SID) is high. However, screening is not consistently performed. We implemented a protocol for detection and management of SID and steroid-induced hyperglycamia (SIH) in haematology outpatients receiving HDS. The association between vitamin D level and diabetic peripheral neuropathy in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus: an update systematic review and meta-analysis
Conclusion This meta -analysis indicates that vitamin D deficiency is associated with the generation and development of DPN in Caucasian with T2DM, and in Asian, diabetic patients with vitamin D deficiency are 1.22 times to suffer from DPN compared with normal vitamin D level. Vitamin D supplementation is urgently needed to prevent the development of DPN in T2DM. (Source: Journal of Clinical and Translational Endocrinology)
