Summary Porphyromonas gingivalis (P. gingivalis) expres‐ses the enzyme peptidylarginine deiminase (PPAD), which has a strong preference for C‐terminal arginines. Due to the combined activity of PPAD and Arg‐specific gingipains, P. gingivalis on the cell surface is highly citrullinated.
