Post ‐operative arterio‐venous fistula blood flow influences primary and secondary patency following access surgery
ConclusionPostoperative fistula flow of less than 300 ml/min identifies AVFs at high risk of early failure. These may be candidates for early intervention with balloon assisted maturation. The findings of this retrospective cohort study strongly support the need for a more robust prospectively designed trial identifying haemodynamic factors that can predict mid and long‐term AVF patency. Tracking patients with advanced kidney disease in the last 12 months of life
ConclusionWe found a substantial symptom burden and slow functional decline in this group of patients. Regular assessment of both symptoms and QOL is warranted particularly if clinical experience indicates that the person is likely to be in their last year of life. Integrated supportive care programmes could assist with easing symptom burden during this time. (Source: Journal of Renal Care)

Implementation of a new patient education programme for renal transplant recipients
ConclusionsNurses were generally satisfied with their new patient education practice. Knowledge derived from the research evidence on patient education was found to be valuable and transferable to everyday clinical nursing practice. (Source: Journal of Renal Care)
