Clear Cell Sarcoma-Like Tumor of the Gastrointestinal Tract: A Case Report and Review of the Literature
Clear cell sarcoma is a rare tumor classically associated with tendons and aponeuroses of lower extremities of young adults and has a distinctive histopathologic and molecular profile. It has been rarely described in other locations other than soft tissues, including the gastrointestinal tract. Herein we report a case of clear cell sarcoma of gastrointestinal tract arising in the ileum, which is rich in osteoclast-like giant cells with a review of the literature. Tumor-to-Tumor Metastasis: Report of Two Cases of Renal Cell Carcinoma Metastasizing to Microcystic Serous Cystadenoma of the Pancreas
Metastatic cancer to the pancreas accounts for less than 2% of all pancreatic malignancies. In contrast to other metastatic tumors, renal cell carcinoma (RCC) has a propensity to metastasize as a solitary pancreatic lesion. While symptomatic patients may present with obstructive jaundice, abdominal pain, or gastrointestinal bleeding, the diagnosis of metastatic pancreatic involvement is often made in asymptomatic patients, during follow-up evaluation in the aftermath of an initial diagnosis of renal cell carcinoma. Microcystic serous cystadenoma of the pancreas is an uncommon pancreatic exocrine neoplasm that morphological...

Pediatric Renal Solitary Fibrous Tumor: Report of a Rare Case and Review of the Literature
We report a case of large SFT in the kidney of a 3-year-old boy that was clinically and radiologically thought to be a nephroblastoma. This case is the first pediatric renal SFT to be reported with detailed histopathologic and cytogenetic analyses. SFT should be included in the differential diagnosis of pediatric renal tumors. Protein Expression of MMP-2 and MT1-MMP in Actinic Keratosis, Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the Skin, and Basal Cell Carcinoma
Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) and basal cell carcinoma (BCC) are 2 skin neoplasms with distinct potentials to invasion and metastasis. Actinic keratosis (AK) is a precursor lesion of SCC. Immunohistochemistry was performed to evaluate the expression of MMP-2 and MT1-MMP in samples of BCC (n = 29), SCC (n = 12), and AK (n = 13). The ratio of positive cells to total cells was used to quantify the staining. Statistical significance was considered under the level P < .05. We found a higher expression of MMP-2 in tumor stroma and parenchyma of SCC as compared to BCC. The expression of this protein was also similar between SC...

Colonic Cribriform Carcinoma, a Morphologic Pattern Associated With Low Survival
Colorectal carcinoma is one of the most common cancers in the human body. Colorectal carcinoma is a heterogeneous disease with variegated morphological patterns; some have shown themselves to have prognostic value. The World Health Organization classification recognizes many histological variants associated with adverse prognostic factors, one is the cribriform colonic carcinoma (CCC). In this work, we analyzed 18 cases of CCC compared with 228 conventional adenocarcinomas of colon, with the hypotheses that CCC compared with non-CCC have worse prognosis and decreased overall survival. CCC represent 7.3% of all colonic aden...

Significance of IMP3, Nucleophosmin, and Ki-67 Expression in Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma
The purpose of our study was to investigate the diagnostic value of expression of IMP3, nucleophosmin, and correlation of these markers with Ki-67 proliferation index in papillary thyroid carcinoma and benign neoplasms of thyroid gland. The aim was also to investigate whether there is a difference between papillary and micropapillary carcinomas with regard to clinicopathologic parameters beside IMP3, nucleophosmin, and Ki-67 proliferation index. It was concluded that IMP3 and nucleophosmin cannot be a routine diagnostic marker for discrimination of papillary carcinomas and benign lesions. IMP3 positive staining was quite s...

Well-Differentiated Follicular Patterned Tumors of the Thyroid With High-Grade Features Can Metastasize in the Absence of Capsular or Vascular Invasion: Report of a Case
We report a case of an encapsulated, noninvasive, follicular thyroid neoplasia with high-grade features in a 59-year-old man who developed multiple metastases. The 5-cm lesion was originally categorized by thyroid fine-needle aspiration as "suspicious for a follicular lesion" and as a "follicular adenoma" on the subsequent hemithyroidectomy specimen. The high-grade features were represented by foci of solid, trabecular, and insular pattern (10% of the tumor), necrosis (< 5% of the tumor), and up to 14 mitoses per 10 high-power fields in the solid areas. No immunohistochemical and molecular markers associated to thyroid ...

Epithelioid Angiosarcoma Arising in an Adrenal Cortical Adenoma: A Case Report and Review of the Literature
We report an exceptional "incidentaloma" in a 60-year-old lady, which showed the features of a primary epithelioid angiosarcoma arising within an adrenal cortical adenoma. No other primary tumor was identified on extensive imaging. This unusual combined tumor has been reported only once before, to the best of our knowledge. The pattern of infiltration of the malignant endothelial cells raises the suggestion that the angiosarcoma arose from vascular elements of the adenoma. Richter Syndrome With Follicular Colonization of Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia/Small Lymphocytic Lymphoma Cells Mimicking Follicular Lymphoma
Follicular colonization is occasionally observed in marginal zone lymphoma. In rare cases, it has also been associated with mantle cell lymphoma. Chronic lymphocytic leukemia typically involves nodal or extranodal tissues as diffuse proliferation by complete effacement of the normal architecture. The involvement of chronic lymphocytic leukemia may be less frequently limited to the interfollicular areas. Here, we report a case of Richter syndrome of the small intestine that was initially diagnosed as follicular lymphoma of the gastrointestinal tract because of a partial follicular growth pattern in addition to a mainly diff...

"Dominant" Myelolipoma Encasing Adrenal Cortical Carcinoma: An Unusual Variation of Myelolipoma Occurring as a Synchronous and Predominant Neoplasm
We describe a new finding, in which the myelolipomatous component consisted of a large mass adjacent and dominant to the carcinoma. The presence of these 2 defined and apparently independent tumors suggests, in this case, the occurrence of collision or synchronous neoplastic events, rather than of metaplasia.
