Isolated Gallbladder Intramucosal Metastatic Melanoma With Features Mimicking Lymphoepithelial Carcinoma
We report a rare case of isolated gallbladder intramucosal metastatic melanoma with features mimicking lymphoepithelial carcinoma in an adult patient who presented with cholecystitis. Additionally, we report the imaging and morphologic features and discuss the importance of these findings along with a clear clinical history and immunohistochemical profile to make a definitive diagnosis. Concurrent Acute Necrotizing Adenovirus Hepatitis and Enterocolitis in an Adult Patient After Double Cord Blood Stem Cell Transplant for Refractory Crohn's Disease
We present the first case of concurrent adenovirus-induced necrotizing hepatitis and enterocolitis in an adult patient after double cord stem cell transplant for refractory Crohn’s disease. Additionally, we report the imaging and morphologic findings and discuss the potential significance of morphology and immunohistochemistry as a practical approach for identifying adenovirus. Revisiting Lipomatous Meningioma: A Case Report and Review of an Unusual Entity
We report a case of a lipomatous meningioma arising in a female patient complaining of recent seizures. Imaging studies revealed a 4-cm dural-based mass, with severe perilesional edema. Histologically, the tumor was composed of meningothelial whorls intermixed with adipocytic-like cells. No atypical criteria or brain invasion were found. The 2 components have differences in progesterone receptor expression and Ki-67 labeling, which may suggest that adipocytic-like cells may represent some quiescent form of meningothelial neoplastic cells, characterized by metabolic abnormalities, leading to lipid accumulation and very low ...

Gynandroblastoma With Juvenile Granulosa Cell Tumor and Concurrent Renal Cell Carcinoma: A Case Report and Review of Literature
We report an unusual case of a 32-year-old female who presented with hyperandrogenism and was found on imaging to have concurrent ovarian and renal masses. Following surgical excision, the ovarian mass was diagnosed as gynandroblastoma, which consisted of 45% juvenile granulosa cell tumor and 55% intermediately differentiated Sertoli–Leydig tumor. The renal mass was diagnosed as a conventional renal clear cell carcinoma. Gynandroblastoma, especially with juvenile granulosa cell tumor, is an extremely rare ovarian tumor. Concurrent gynandroblastoma with another malignant neoplasm has not been reported in the literatur...

Ovarian Small Cell Carcinoma of Pulmonary Type Arising in Mature Cystic Teratomas With Metastases to the Contralateral Ovary
A bilateral small cell ovarian carcinoma pulmonary-type (SCCOPT), arising in bilateral mature cystic teratomas (MCTs) presented as stage IIIB in a 37-year-old woman. Microscopically, tumor nests were related to the dermoid protuberance and expressed pancytokeratin, EMA, CD56, chromogranin A, NSE, synaptophysin, and SOX2. SALL4 was also focally positive. CDX2, TTF1, PAX8, CK7, CK20, and several neuroendocrine gut hormones were negative. Serum NSE was elevated. This case represents a SCCOPT arising in an MCT in the right ovary with metastasis to the left one also containing a synchronous MCT. Surface implants and lymphovascu...

Radiation-Associated Low-Grade Extraskeletal Osteosarcoma of the Neck Following Treatment for Thyroid Cancer
We present a case of a 59-year-old man with a past history of radiotherapy for papillary carcinoma of the thyroid, presenting 16 years later with a low-grade extraskeletal osteosarcoma of the neck. The patient was treated with surgical excision and is disease free after 12 months of follow-up. The prognosis for patients with low-grade extraskeletal osteosarcoma is relatively good when compared with high-grade sarcomas. While there is a report of a low-grade extraskeletal osteosarcoma arising following radiotherapy for a benign condition, to the best of our knowledge this is the first reported case of a low-grade extraskele...

Malignant Peripheral Nerve Sheath Tumor With Rhabdomyosarcomatous and Glandular Elements: Rare Epithelial Differentiation in a Triton Tumor
We describe a case occurring in the mediastinum (between the ascending aorta and the main pulmonary artery) of a 40-year-old man with neurofibromatosis type-1. Despite treatment, the tumor metastasized to the right frontal lobe 16 months after diagnosis. Histologically, the primary neoplasm comprised cellular fascicles of atypical spindle cells, with discrete foci of well-formed or more primitive glandular epithelial structures, while the metastases comprised spindle cell sarcoma, including rhabdomyosarcoma, without epithelial elements. We review and discuss the literature on these little characterized neoplasms, including...

Atypical Cellular Chorangioma: A Potential Diagnostic Pitfall With Worrisome Aspects but a Favorable Prognosis
We describe an unusual chorangioma with high cellularity and abundant mitosis that, after careful examination and postpartum follow-up, showed benign clinical course for mother and child confirming previous reported cases. This type of tumor is known in the literature as atypical cellular chorangioma and its identification is important in order to exclude potentially dangerous overtreatment. Characterization of Fibromuscular Pseudocapsule in Renal Cell Carcinoma
Pseudocapsule in renal cell carcinoma (RCC) has been described but little is known about its prevalence and extent. Pseudocapsule was analyzed in 105 RCCs (44 clear cell, 44 chromophobe, 17 papillary). Pseudocapsule was graded as follows: grade 1, thickness comparable to adjacent muscular arteries; grade 2, thickness more than twice the diameter of adjacent muscular arteries; grade 3, grade 2 findings with vasculopathy. Tumor size, tumor regression, and International Society of Urologic Pathology (ISUP) nucleolar grade were recorded. Cases with grade 3 pseudocapsule were stained with elastic silver stain, Alcian blue, smoo...

Tumor Budding Is Independently Predictive for Lymph Node Involvement in Early Gastric Cancer
Conclusion. Based on these results, we suggest that budding is a promising parameter to assess for prediction of LNM in EGC removed by endoscopic surgery, and to decide on the appropriate surgical approach. (Source: International Journal of Surgical Pathology)
