4‐Methyl‐5‐(4‐methylphenyl)‐4,5‐dihydrooxazol‐2‐amine (4,4′‐DMAR, 4,4′‐dimethylaminorex): availability, prevalence of use, desired effects and acute toxicity
ConclusionsCurrently, there appears to limited availability of 4,4′‐DMAR; therefore, use is likely to be low. Its desired and unwanted effects appear similar to other sympathomimetic recreational drugs such as methylenedioxy‐methamphetamine or mephedrone. Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd. The safety of serotonin–noradrenaline reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs) in pregnancy and breastfeeding: a comprehensive review
ConclusionsAvailable data suggest that venlafaxine is relatively safe during pregnancy, in particular as far as major malformations are concerned, whereas considering the small number of studies published, no definitive conclusions can be drawn on its safety during breastfeeding. Because of the few studies so far published, the safety of duloxetine during pregnancy and breastfeeding remains to be well established. Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd. Olanzapine: evaluation of the in vivo cytogenetic effect
ConclusionsOur results indicate a mild cytotoxic—but not cytostatic—effect of OLZ which was more prominent in smokers and in chronically treated patients. That effect should be taken into consideration by psychiatrists upon assessing the benefit/risk ratio of their prescriptions. Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd. Improved working memory performance following administration of a single dose of American ginseng (Panax quinquefolius L.) to healthy middle‐age adults
ConclusionsThese data confirm that P. quinquefolius can acutely benefit working memory and extend the age range of this effect to middle‐aged individuals. These changes are unlikely to be underpinned by modulation of blood glucose in this population. Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd. (Source: Human Psychopharmacology: Clinical and Experimental)

Changes in the Temperament and Character Inventory dimensions after paroxetine treatment in patients with major depressive disorder
Previous studies have reported changes in the dimensions of the Temperament and Character Inventory (TCI) after patients with major depressive disorder are treated. We aimed to investigate the changes in the TCI dimensions after paroxetine treatment in patients with major depressive disorder. Forty‐eight patients were enrolled in this study and were treated with 10–40 mg/day of paroxetine for 6 weeks. The TCI was completed twice, at weeks 0 and 6. We used the Montgomery–Asberg Depression Rating Scale (MADRS) to evaluate patients. The participants were divided into three groups (responders, non‐responders, and e...

Influence of depression and anxiety on circulating endothelial progenitor cells in patients with acute coronary syndromes
ConclusionsThe current study indicates that EPCs circulate in decreased numbers in ACS patients with depression or anxiety and, therefore, contribute to explore new perspectives in the pathophysiology of the association between cardiovascular disorders and affective disorders. The effect of self‐regulated caffeine use on cognition in young adults
ConclusionsThese data suggest that self‐regulated caffeine usage may not have a significant impact on reaction time, vigilance, response inhibition, or decision‐making in young adults, or that these effects are contingent upon other variables not accounted for in the current study. Mn‐superoxide dismutase activity is associated with orofacial involuntary movements in schizophrenia patients with tardive dyskinesia
ConclusionsOxidative stress reflected by compromised oxidative defense may play a role in the development and severity of TD. There may be an etiologic relationship between increased SOD level and dyskinetic movements associated with TD. In particular, MnSOD activity may have a specific role in orofacial TD.
