Comparative study of amlodipine vs. cilnidipine for the prevention of hepatic ischemia ‐reperfusion injury in rat model
We examined the effect of pretreatment with AML or CIL (100 μg/kg i.p.) 45 min before induction of 60 min of liver ischemia followed by reperfusion, on oxidative stress markers, liver enzymes, serum tumor necrosis factor‐α, interleukin‐1β, apoptosis markers, and nuclear factor KB after 6 and 24 h of hepatic reperfusion. Both drugs significantly ameliorated biochemical and histological markers of hepatic I/R injury, but protection with CIL was more significant at the 6‐h time point where protection with AML outlasted that of CIL. Both drugs offered significant protection against hepatic I/R damage, but the protecti...

On ‐the‐ground application of the ‘temporary recommendation for use’ regulatory measure on off‐label use of baclofen for alcohol dependence in France: a regional survey of community pharmacies
Abstract The ‘temporary recommendation for use’ (TRU) is a French novel regulatory measure for off‐label drug. The first TRU to be issued by the French drug agency (in March 2014) pertained to the off‐label use of baclofen for alcohol dependence (AD). We performed a questionnaire‐based survey of the on‐the‐ground application of the baclofen TRU among community pharmacies in northern France. A pharmacist from 70 of the 219 pharmacies contacted (response rate: 32.0%) completed the questionnaire. The mean ± standard deviation number of off‐label baclofen prescriptions for AD was 2.3 ± 2.2 per pharmacy per mo...

Continuous intravenous vancomycin in children with normal renal function hospitalized in hematology ‐oncology: prospective validation of a dosing regimen optimizing steady‐state concentration
This study assessed the prospective validation of this age‐based nomogram and the influence on Css attainment of variables as the gender, underlying disease (oncology or hematology), and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) before receiving vancomycin therapy. A total of 94 patients aged from 4.3 months to 17.9 years old with normal renal function were eligible for the prospective validation. Fifty‐five of those patients (58.5%) achieved the target range of vancomycin Css. There was no significant difference between age groups (p=0.816) and no influence of gender (p=0.500). There was a non‐significant trend...

Inhibition of spinal p38 MAPK prevents articular neutrophil infiltration in experimental arthritis via sympathetic activation
In conclusion, our results suggest that pharmacological strategies involving the modulation of spinal p38 MAPK circuit can prevent joint inflammation via sympathetic networks and beta‐adrenoceptors activation.
